Is it possible to sail from Mahé to Praslin to Silhouette in four days?
Updated on: 16/08/2025Completing the Mahé-Praslin-Silhouette loop in 4 days is very difficult to manage, since most boat rental companies require you to return the sailboat to the same location where you departed. As a result, you won’t have enough time to complete this loop, even though it’s a very comprehensive route that allows you to visit the three largest islands in the archipelago.
In fact, your trip would break down as follows:
- from Eden Island (Mahé) to Baie Sainte-Anne (Praslin) → 5 hours of sailing for 29 nautical miles
- from Praslin to La Passe on Silhouette Island → 6 hours of sailing for 34 nautical miles
- from Silhouette to Mahé → 3.5 hours of sailing for 21 nautical miles
A challenging trip that will leave you little time to enjoy the stops along the way…
So what should you do? You have two options. Our partners who rent boats in the Seychelles offer“one-way”sailboat rentals, meaning you can return the boat to a marina different from your departure point. For example, you can depart from Mahé and return your boat to Praslin, which significantly reduces travel time, all for an additional €300.
The alternative is to focus on one of the two main islands of the archipelago and its surroundings. You can therefore:
- set sail from Mahé (100 boats), easily accessible thanks to the nearby Victoria Airport, and explore Mahé, Anse Major, and Silhouette, for example
- depart from Praslin (21 boats), then discover the Vallée de Mai, or the islands of Curieuse and La Digue.
