Terceira Island is part of the Azores archipelago located in the North Atlantic Ocean at 1400 km from Lisbon. The islands are a territory of Portugal autonomous status since 1976.
It is located in the central group, its nearest neighbor is the island of São Jorge, and owes its name to the fact that he was the third to be discovered (1450).
