A dinghy is a small inflatable or semi-rigid boat that allows you, when you drop anchor or tie up to a buoy, to venture away from your boat to explore the surroundings or go ashore. To move around in it, you’ll need to either row or use an outboard motor. It can usually comfortably hold up to 6 people. For larger groups, you’ll need to make two trips to get everyone ashore!
On boats 9 meters or longer, the dinghy itself is almost always included, along with a pair of oars. The outboard motor is generally an extra, costing between €100 and €150 per week. This information will be listed on the boat’s profile.
On a monohull: the dinghy will be tied to the bow of the boat (on some large monohulls over 15 meters, there is sometimes a dinghy locker at the stern, but this is quite rare). As for the outboard motor, when not in use, you secure it to the stern of the cockpit on a mounting plate provided for that purpose.

On a catamaran: the dinghy is usually stored on a kind of winch, called a davit. In this case, launching is very simple, and you can leave the outboard motor attached to the dinghy.
