Do I need to bring a valid ID or passport that is valid for at least six months?

Updated on: 26/05/2025
Yes, you must bring a form of identification and a passport, depending on the country where you will be cruising.

Please note: If you are taking a cruise from Martinique to the Grenadines and you are a French citizen, you will be leaving territorial waters, so you must have a passport.

The customer must also ensure that all cruise participants, including children and even infants under two years of age, are in possession of valid documentation to enter the country or countries that will be crossed or visited during the trip (Note: many countries require that the passport be valid for at least 6 months after the trip).

If you are French and traveling to a European Union country, you are theoretically permitted to travel with a French passport that expired less than 5 years ago. The European agreement does indeed allow stays of less than 3 months under these conditions. Note that the Overseas Territories (such as Tahiti and Saint Martin) have not signed this agreement.
