Rimini is a city of Italy, capital of the Province of Rimini in the Emilia-Romagna region. It is located on the Adriatic coast, in northern Italy. It is located near Urbino (62 km) and the Republic of San Marino (27 km).
Rimini is a colony founded by the Romans in 268 BC. AD under the name Ariminum port, built in marble, was renamed. Caesar took it in -49, having crossed the Rubicon.
Vitiges, king of the Ostrogoths, besieged in 538, but it was issued by Belisarius. She fell thereafter to power of the Lombards, but as part of the Pentapolis, which was given to the pope by Pepin the Short.
The Malatesti, which Emperor Otto III donated, there dominated from the thirteenth to the sixteenth century. She returned to the popes in 1528.
An earthquake overwhelmed its port in 1671.
