Sainte-Maxime is a French commune in the Var department in the French region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Its inhabitants are the Sainte-Maxime.
The resort borders the north shore of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. Protected from the mistral by wooded hills of the Massif des Maures, it opens to the south. The Préconil small coastal river flows into the Mediterranean after crossing the town on the west side.
