Civitavecchia is a town in the Italian region Lazio, located in the province of Rome, between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the mountains of Tolfa.
It is a seaport that serves especially Sardinia and Corsica.
The village became Civitavecchia, developed along the Tyrrhenian coast to the Etruscan period. The city is located in an area between the river Mignone Marangone River North and the South. Without much relief, there are many valleys (fossil) and small canyons between neighboring mountains of Tolfa and the sea coast has many bays and small coves (cellae) with rocky and sandy beaches end to the North. The final arm of Mignone, passing north of Civitavecchia, happening in the province of Viterbo before emptying into the Tyrrhenian Sea.
