Hydra is a Greek island in the Saronic Gulf, south of Athens, in the Aegean Sea, opposite the peninsula of Argolis. This island is car-free. It was one of the great naval powers of the Mediterranean Sea in the modern era. Its owners and its ships played an important role during the Greek War of Independence. It forms today, most of the territory of the municipality that bears his name.
