Lavrion port was once an important port due to the extraction of silver mines which contributed to the rise of Athens.
It is now a fairly dirty port with its old ore mining mines. However, it retains a certain charm with its ancient villas which reflect some past wealth.
It is anyway a few well equipped with bars, cafes, supermarket and a great place to take a boat rental because you can quickly escape to the Cyclades port.
