Gallipoli is an Italian town of Salento in the province of Lecce in southern Puglia.
Built by the sea, on the Gulf of Taranto, Gallipoli consists of two distinct parts: the Borgo and the old town. The old town is situated on a limestone island connected to the mainland by a bridge and contains a rich heritage, including the seventeenth and eighteenth century inherited port activity of the city. The Borgo is the modern part of the city with new buildings, such as the Palazzo di vetro, the glass palace also called the skyscraper.
