The organiser cancels my cruise: what to do?
Updated on: 22/09/2026For a cabin cruise, the contract binds you to the organiser, with Filovent acting as an intermediary. This type of trip is a package holiday governed by the French Tourism Code, which gives you different rights from those of a boat hire. Here is what our terms and conditions provide for if the organiser has to cancel or change your cruise.
| Situation | What Filovent provides for |
| Minimum number of participants not reached | Alternative cruise or refund, with no compensation |
| Cancellation by the organiser before departure (other reason) | Immediate refund with no penalty, plus compensation |
| Services that can no longer be provided after departure | Replacement services or return at no extra cost |
| Different cabin allocated | Same price category guaranteed |
| Price increase after booking | Possible; can be refused with no penalty if the increase is 8% or more |
| Change of itinerary by the captain | Possible for weather or port-related reasons |
The organiser cancels the cruise before departure
Cruise organisers reserve the right to cancel a cruise if the minimum number of participants is not reached. In that case, you may accept an alternative cruise or be refunded the amounts paid, but no additional compensation is due. If the organiser cancels your cruise for another reason before departure, the French Tourism Code applies: you are refunded immediately and with no penalty, and you also receive compensation at least equal to the penalty you would have paid had you cancelled yourself on that date.
Services can no longer be provided after departure
If, once the cruise has begun, the organiser can no longer provide a significant part of the planned services, they must offer you replacement services or, if this is not possible, transport tickets for your return, at no extra cost.
Change of cabin or price
The organiser retains the option to allocate you a different cabin from the one booked, provided it belongs to the same price category. Unlike a boat hire, the price of a cruise may be revised upwards or downwards after your booking, particularly in the event of changes to fuel prices, taxes or exchange rates. If the increase reaches 8% or more, you may refuse this revision and be refunded with no penalty.
Change of itinerary
The organiser cannot guarantee that the boat will call at every port planned in the original itinerary. For weather-related reasons or because of port conditions, the captain may change the route in the interest of passengers, without Filovent's liability being engaged.
Filovent's role
If you have any difficulty or doubt, our customer service team is on hand to help you manage your booking. Any complaint must be sent by registered letter with proof of delivery within 8 days of returning from the cruise.
