Yacht charter in Santa Giulia

Last updated on 24 February 2026

Santa Giulia, once the name of a church in Cap Corse in the north of the island, is none other than a magnificent sandy beach located a few nautical miles by boat from Porto-Vecchio. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in this splendid seaside resort located in the south-east of Corsica.

With its turquoise waters and fine sandy beach, Santa Giulia seems worthy of the Caribbean. On a week-long cruise between Porto-Vecchio and Bonifacio, a day stop in this bay will not disappoint you. Marked by a wild character softened by an exotic charm, Santa Giulia will give boaters a little moment of relaxation with a breathtaking view of the Cerbicales Islands. Other beaches are also worth a visit. And to discover them, there's nothing like a yacht charter in Corsica.

So moor your sailboat in the bay of Palombaggia for a short while before venturing to the small, quiet beach of Acciaju. Although Palombaggia is crowded in summer, this beach offers an extraordinary and colorful landscape with its white sand, red rocks and sparkling blue sea.

Caratoggio, Tamarucciu, Ovu Santu, Pinarellu and Stagnolu are just some of the exotic wonders and sandy beaches to be discovered without hesitation along the southern coast of Corsica.

What license is required to rent a boat in Corsica?

No license is required to skipper a boat in France. However, you will need to provide your nautical CV, which lists all your experience as a skipper. This will demonstrate your ability or lack thereof to take on the responsibility of skipper during a yacht charter.

Of course, if you have opted for a yacht charter with a skipper, the nautical CV will not be necessary.

How much does a yacht charter in Corsica cost?

Below you will find an order of magnitude of the average prices for a one-week sailboat charter of a monohull or catamaran in Corsica. These prices may vary depending on the season, the size of the boat, the model of the boat, the age of the boat, etc

What is the best time to book a boat in Corsica?

Corsica is an ideal playground for great sailing. However, because of its relief, the wind changes direction quickly, which can make sailing quite challenging. To avoid being caught off guard by the Mistral and the Libeccio, the main Mediterranean winds that blow in Corsica, we advise you to always check the wind conditions using applications such as Windy or Météo Consult. As Thomas, a Filovent customer who has sailed in Corsica, told me : "to sail in Corsica, you need to have a general idea of the sailing itinerary you want to follow and make adjustments on the spot depending on the wind".

The climate in Corsica is considered temperate Mediterranean. The island is sunny all year round and the summers are hot and dry. The weather from May to September is favorable for a boat cruise, however to avoid the influx of tourists we recommend that you go there in May, June or September.

Sail to the Cerbical Islands

The proximity of Santa Giulia beach to the Cerbical Islands also makes it an interesting point of departure for birdlife enthusiasts. Looming in the open sea off Punta Cerbicale, this small archipelago of six islands, with four main islands, has been a nature reserve since 1981. Indeed, the underwater and birdlife around the Cerbical Islands is very rich. Lizard, Hermann's tortoise, little egret and peregrine falcon will entertain hikers.

With a surface area of 80,000 hectares, the Cerbicales Islands archipelago is one of the largest reserves in mainland France. Also classified as the Bouches de Bonifatio Reserve, this reserve is home to a high density of scrubland, particularly on the island of Forna and Piana. The island of Maestro Maria, on the other hand, reveals a vast sandy expanse colonized by sand lilies, in full bloom in August.

Diving enthusiasts will also find plenty to keep them occupied around the Cerbicales Islands. Several diving spots will allow them to swim among huge Mediterranean groupers. Beginners will prefer to swim on the deck or in the holds of the Picorella wreck.

Some must-sees in Porto-Vecchio

Holidaymakers can also take advantage of their stopover in Santa Giulia to visit the town of Porto-Vecchio, with its majestic citadel protected by a Genoa gate since 1539. Bars, restaurants and shops cheerfully enliven the small squares that populate the citadel. It is an excellent place to meet up with family or friends.

Its marina is also an excellent meeting place for yachtsmen, who will gather around a table in one of its many restaurants before heading to the salt marshes. The salt marshes, located at the mouth of the Stabiaccu, offer magnificent panoramas that rival the beauty of those revealed by the Chiappa lighthouse.
