Cruises in polar regions and fjords

Last updated on 25 February 2025

The adventure begins now with our cruises in the fjords and polar lands! Set off to explore the wildest and most unspoiled regions of our planet on board one of our human-sized ships in Norway, Antarctica or South America. On the program: authentic experiences, far from everything, in places where you feel like an explorer. In short, trips that are both soothing and awe-inspiring. I have put together the essential information for you to choose your cruise well and, above all, for it to be a success!

Presentation of the ship

You will enjoy a ship on a human scale, where every detail is designed for your well-being and rejuvenation. With an excellent distribution of interior and exterior spaces, particularly the deck, which allows you to observe wonders by day or by night, every passenger will find their own corner of paradise. Not to mention the numerous observation lounges, which allow you to miss none of the fascinating spectacle unfolding before your eyes.

The crew will offer you a superior service to make your trip as pleasant as possible. You will also benefit from many practical services on board: washing machines for your comfort, spaces to relax, a restaurant with local flavors, and much more. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, ideal for a good night's rest after days full of excitement. The aim is simple: to make your cruise a memorable experience.

Norway: a journey to the heart of the fjords

When to go?

Norway is the perfect country for cruises, believe me! You can generally go there all year round, but the best time to go to Norway is from July to August to enjoy the midnight sun or from the end of November to January to admire the Northern Lights and maybe even a polar bear on its ice floe if you're lucky... Here is a table that lists the average temperatures of different cities in Norway to cover the entire country.

The most beautiful places to discover

  • Bergen: Our shortlist city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and well worth a visit. Take the funicular up Mount Floyen for unbeatable views of this picturesque city in northern Norway, and stroll through the historic Bryggen district.
  • Tromsø: This city beyond the Arctic Circle is the ideal point of departure for observing the Lyngen Alps from the deck of the ship and, if you are lucky, the Northern Lights. Whether it is your point of departure or just a stopover, Tromsø has a lot to offer you..
  • Lofoten Islands: Admire these breathtaking islands from the ship, play captain on your cruise to the Lofoten Islands, and take advantage of a stopover to discover the treasures they hold. My favorite: the hike to Kvalvika beach.
  • The Svalbard Islands: In a short day of sailing, you can enjoy one of the northernmost places in the world, where you may be able to spot polar bears in their natural habitat. During your cruise to the Svalbard Islands, you must visit the charming town of Ny-Ålesund. Personally, I loved it!

Our practical advice

  • Documents: You can travel to Norway with just an identity card. If you are traveling to the Svalbard archipelago, you will need to bring your passport.
  • Local specialties: Enjoy fresh produce, 90% of which is local, from the side of the boat. Be prepared for high prices in restaurants and supermarkets, especially for alcohol, as a bottle of wine can cost as much as USD60
  • What to wear: Remember to bring clothing suitable for polar conditions for your cruise in Norway, especially for nights on deck to observe the Northern Lights, but also a good pair of sunglasses, as the snow can reflect light strongly during certain expeditions, captain's advice!

Our prices

Cruises in Norway vary according to the season and sailing itineraries, but they always offer excellent value for money for such spectacular scenery. Here is a table of prices per person for guidance:

Antarctica: the ultimate adventure

When to go?

The best time for a cruise to Antarctica is between November and March. It is during this southern summer that conditions are most favorable for exploring this frozen continent.

The most beautiful places to discover

  • Drake Passage: We are all familiar with this famous passage, one of the most famous and exhilarating sea crossings in the world, taking you across the rough waters between South America and the Antarctic.
  • Antarctic Peninsula: This peninsula is a real delight for animal lovers, as you will come across many Antarctic animals such as penguins, seals, whales and many more
  • Falkland Islands: These islands offer a fascinating glimpse of the local wildlife and sublime landscapes.

Our practical advice

  • Documents: You don't need a visa to access Antarctica, but you do need a valid passport and to be prepared to respect the strict environmental regulations.
  • What to wear: Pack technical, insulating clothing and dress in layers to adapt to the extreme cold.

Our prices

Antarctic cruises are an investment, but they are worth every penny for those seeking to explore this unique and unspoiled place. Here is a table of prices per person for guidance:

High season (November - March)

from:

12-day cruise

10,400 USD

21-day cruise

17,500 USD

South America: Chilean fjords and Patagonia

When to go?

I recommend the months between November and March for a cruise in Patagonia and the Chilean fjords to enjoy the austral summer.

  • Ushuaia: This Argentinian city is the gateway to Antarctica and the magnificent landscapes of Tierra del Fuego. Enjoy the city before embarking, where you can sample the local food and discover Argentinian culture. From France, the route we recommend is often to go to Buenos Aires and then take a domestic flight to Ushuaia.
  • Chilean Fjords: You can't miss these natural wonders, which you can admire from the deck of the boat. Between dizzying mountains, glaciers and crystal-clear waters, you will spend your nights dreaming about them!
  • Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego: Two wild and spectacular places that are home to diverse wildlife and breathtaking panoramas.

Our practical advice

  • Documents: A valid passport is required to enter Argentina and Chile.
  • What to wear: Bring clothes suitable for cool temperatures and often windy conditions. Your raincoat will be your faithful traveling companion!

Our prices

Cruises in South America are relatively long, allowing you to enjoy a real expedition and numerous stopovers.
