Sailing itineraries

Kirkenes Vardo Berlevag
Your journey begins in the Arctic, in the town of Kirkenes, just a few kilometers from the border,... see+ but even further east than St. Petersburg and Istanbul.
For those interested in history, the Varanger Museum in Kirkenes presents exhibitions on the hardships suffered by the city during the Second World War, which was bombed 328 times in four years, making it the most heavily bombed place during the war after Malta.
To find out more about this dark period, visit the Andersgrotta WWII bomb shelter, which can accommodate up to 2,500 people underground.
In the port of Vardø, you'll discover the Vardøhus fortress, built in 1737. The most northerly of all fortifications, it still belongs to the army.
We'll sail along the Norwegian coast to reach the small port of Båtsfjord in the evening, then Berlevåg. You may catch a glimpse of Mount Tanahorn to the west, or see the Kjølnes lighthouse flashing on a clifftop overlooking the Barents Sea.

We'll arrive in Harstad in the morning, and you can join one of our traditional excursions, to the... see+ Vesterålen Islands. On this tour, you'll discover history, beautiful landscapes and cultural sites before returning to the ship in Sortland.
Passengers who choose to stay on the ship will cross the Risøyrenna, a shallow canal built for Hurtigruten in the 1920s.
The stunning scenery of the famous Lofoten and Vesterålen islands will leave you breathless. Lofoten is renowned for its immense beauty, rugged mountains, wilderness and picturesque fishing villages. Our day trip to the region is a must for many travelers.
After a short stop in the hamlet of Risøyhamn, we continue on to Stokmarknes, where Hurtigruten was born over 125 years ago**. Here you can visit the Hurtigruten Museum. As we continue south, you might think we're heading straight for the rock face, but appearances are deceptive. In fact, we'll be taking a passage through the narrow Raftsund, winding our way among peaks towering 1,000 meters above sea level.
Then we arrive in the marvellous Trollfjord. Conditions permitting, we'll skirt sheer cliffs that you can almost touch. An unforgettable experience!
We then reach Svolvær, where you can choose from a number of optional excursions. You can go horseback riding on a beach at sunset, take part in spectacular hikes, take a speedboat ride in the fjord or enjoy the town's many cafés, pubs and restaurants.

Stamsund Ornes Nesna Sandnessjoen Bronnoysund Rorvik
Crossing the Arctic Circle is an important “rite of passage”. We celebrate this moment on deck... see+ in the purest Arctic tradition, with a spoonful of cod liver oil.
Along the coast of Helgeland, you'll see a strange mountain, Torghatten (258 m above sea level), with a distinctive hole in its center. The hole is 160 m long, 35 m high and 20 m wide, and was formed during the Ice Age. Take a hike up the mountain.
Another must-see is the Seven Sisters mountain range. It's easy to see how it could have influenced the myths of yesteryear. Legend has it that seven beautiful troll sisters were surprised by sunrise and turned to stone, creating these seven stunning peaks.
We'll then stop briefly in the charming trading port of Nesna before heading on to Sandnessjøen. Here, you can take part in an optional excursion to the Vega Islands, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. UNESCO has taken an interest in the archipelago and its unique, centuries-old link with the eider ducks. Discover how the inhabitants make their living from making down comforters.
In Brønnøysund, you can join an excursion to learn about Norway's aquaculture center and taste fresh salmon from April to October.
Although we're below the Arctic Circle, there's a good chance you'll catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights in winter. The Midnight Sun may not be there, but in late spring and summer you'll experience the light of endless days.

Sumptuous landscapes as you sail
As you sail along the coast, you'll notice the importance of fish in the Norwegian coastal villages.
Kristiansund is known as Norway's “dried cod capital”, thanks to its long tradition of exporting salted fish. Take an excursion along the Atlantic Route, one of Norway's national tourist routes. The 8 km stretch crosses eight bridges and pastoral landscapes surrounded by the sea.
The Bergtatt marble mine is another exciting excursion, taking you deep into the mountains to an illuminated underground lake, before dining in the mine's huge hall.

The North Cape plateau stretches 307 meters above the Arctic Ocean. Welcome to Europe's northernmost point. Unlike previous passengers who had to climb to the top of the cliff, a bus from Honningsvåg will take you to your destination. You'll have plenty of... see+ time to stroll around the plateau and take photos in front of the monumental globe.
Enjoy a generous breakfast buffet in the North Cape Hall as you gaze out over the Barents Sea, before experiencing the four seasons of the North Cape through a panoramic film. In the North Cape Hall, inside the cliff, you can buy handcrafted gifts for your loved ones in the gift store and visit the chapel and small museum.
Departing from Honningsvåg, we take an underwater tunnel that links the town to the mainland. The bus then takes us south along the majestic Porsangerfjord, before heading back along the coast to Hammerfest, one of the world's most northerly towns.

Our tour begins with a brief exploration of the streets of Harstad. This is the third largest community in Northern Norway. Its history is rooted in herring fishing, the army and, more recently, oil rigs.
On a clear day, you should be able to see the... see+ Trondenes peninsula to the north of the town. You'll visit a 13th-century medieval stone church, the most northerly of its kind in the world. We'll stop off at the Trondenes Historical Center, which displays artifacts found in the region from different eras, from the early Stone Age through the Middle Ages to the Viking Age and the modern era. The museum also boasts a reconstructed farmhouse dating from around 1200, complete with granary, forge and moated church.
Departing Trondenes, we'll take the bus for a scenic drive across the island of Hinnøya to board our ferry at Gullesfjord. On board, enjoy freshly baked pancakes, waffles and lefse and a hot drink as you admire the scenery. The tour continues by bus along the Sigerfjord to Sortland, where your ship awaits.
