Last updated on 7 April 2025
A veritable continent open to both the immensity of the Pacific and the blue waters of the Indian Ocean, Australia is a land of contrasts, which you will discover from a new angle while sailing on boarda sailboat. Our Australian yacht charter bases are located in Sydney and in the Whitsundays.
A truly magical destination, Australia offers yachtsmen a unique opportunity to discover exceptional maritime landscapes, among the most beautiful in the world. In the northeast of the country, for example, lies the Great Barrier Reef with its countless shades of color, surrounded by turquoise waters, to be explored during a stopover dedicated to snorkeling. The Whitsundays archipelago is just a stone's throw away. The sailing conditions there are ideal during the southern summer, with mostly calm and fairly smooth waters.
To the south-east, Sydney Harbour is also a must for a maritime getaway along the Australian coast. You will of course be able to admire famous landmarks such as the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge, but you will also be amazed to see cliff scenery.
If you plan to cross Bass Strait, which separates Australia from Tasmania, be aware that the sailing conditions are demanding and that it is advisable to keep up to date with the weather.
Enjoy the sweetness of doing nothing
The sandy rivers that embellish the Australian coastline are also worth a visit. Rivalling the beauty of the beaches of Fiji, they invite you to enjoy the pleasures of relaxation with your family or as a couple. Some of them really stand out! If you'd like to drop anchor near some of Australia's most beautiful beaches, take an unforgettable road trip along the west coast.
If you like peace and quiet, drop anchor in the open sea off Elephant Cove beach. You will swim in crystal-clear water among the rocks, with no one to disturb you. Located in Denmark, in the southwest of the country, it is one of the top 10 most beautiful beaches in Australia. A turquoise sea also caresses the sublime beach of Thistle Cove. Part of the Cape Le Grand National Park, this beach will charm you with its immaculate white sand. In addition to endless walks along the sea, you can go surfing and scuba diving. Hiking is also a possibility!
Discover hiking by the sea
The wild, rugged and sandy coasts of Australia can also be explored on a hike. Dare to abandon your catamaran for a few hours and set off on a hike along the coast. The change of scenery is total! As a starting point, you are spoiled for choice between Sydney, Barrenjoey or the coastal town of Cronulla in the south.
Heading towards Sydney from Barrenjoey beach, you will admire magnificent panoramas overlooking Pittwater before losing yourself in the virgin forest of McKay reserve. Your hike along the coast will also allow you to immortalize the highest point of Sydney's north shore: Bangalley Head. Your excursion will also take you to Narrabeen Lakes, where small, secluded beaches await you.
