Why rent a catamaran for your cruise?
- Space and comfort: All crew members, including children, will quickly find their place in the well-appointed and secure living space of the catamaran and its numerous cabins. As the living area is spread over two hulls, the deck area at the front is larger than on a monohull. The trampoline at the front provides a space to relax and enjoy the sun. The space available in the living area and the cockpit is much larger than on any other sailing boat.
- Easy maneuvering: The catamaran's shallow draft facilitates close-hauled anchorages as well as return to port, additional sailing comfort that will allow you to sail and anchor in shallow waters. This is important information for making the most of your cruise on board your catamaran by finding small, intimate and isolated coves, far from mass tourism. The two engines at the stern also facilitate maneuvering and take over when the wind is not on the windward side.
- Stability: Easy to maneuver on the high seas and in anchorages, the catamaran- , is also highly appreciated for its good stability during movement, which has the advantage of helping novices to acclimatize on board the boat. Catamarans do not pitch over as much as monohulls, in other words they do not lean to one side while sailing, making crossings less tiring.
- Performance: The greater the waterline length of the boat, the better its performance in terms of speed. In addition, catamarans are not weighted down by a lead keel, unlike monohulls, which allows them to be faster on the same wind.
- Privacy: On board a catamaran, you will be far from busy tourist areas, in a private and peaceful space, ideal for relaxing and getting together. The cabins of a catamaran are located within the two hulls and separated from the rest areas and the kitchen, making life easier for passengers on board during a cruise.
- Associated activities: In addition to sailing, enjoy nautical pleasures such as diving, paddle boarding, kayaking, or tasting delicious dishes prepared by an on-board chef. Each day on board can be a new discovery.
- A tailor-made experience: Filovent offers a wide range of catamarans, ranging from 32 to 80 feet. Options such as a skipper, hostess, crew or even an all-inclusive cruise with a pre-planned sailing itinerary are available.
What types of catamarans are available for charter?
The following catamaran types are available for charter:
- The catamaran alone: This is for regulars of sailing and cruising. If you have the necessary experience to skipper a catamaran yourself, rent the catamaran alone and take the helm! It is a relatively stable and easy to maneuver type of sailboat, compared to a monohull.
- Catamarans with skipper and/or hostess: Enhance your experience by treating yourself to a skipper to navigate and a hostess to prepare meals throughout your cruise. You are the renter and the person in charge of the catamaran, but you don't need to prepare for the cruise in advance. If you are not familiar with the sailing area, you can count on the support and advice of the professional skipper. On a catamaran, it is easy to accommodate the skipper and hostess thanks to the space offered by the catamaran's living area, so don't worry about preserving your private space!
- All-inclusive cabin cruise: You book a cabin alone or with someone else on a luxurious catamaran, in the company of other travelers. You benefit from a full crew that manages navigation and meals: it's a hotel-like stay. Destinations vary between the exotic and the cultural, with sailing itineraries carefully designed for an intimate yet social trip. The sailing itinerary is planned by the experienced skipper, who becomes a veritable tour guide. On the practical side, there is no need to book restaurants or activities. This all-inclusive concept can be personalized and offers a perfect balance between adventure and comfort.

Where can you sail on a catamaran charter?
Filovent offers numerous destinations all over the world for catamaran charters:
- The Mediterranean: In summer, Corsica and Sardinia are very popular because of their wonderful coves, turquoise waters and omnipresent wilderness. Cruises in Greece, Croatia and Spain are also very popular with boaters. Catamaran charter is an optimal way to visit the islands of the Mediterranean basin while avoiding the tourists in high season. The Mediterranean is full of unmissable spots such as the French Riviera, the Balearic Islands, Italy, the Cyclades in Greece or the Croatian archipelagos.
- Exotic islands: The Caribbean, the Seychelles and French Polynesia invite you on a trip to paradise. With a constant breeze and warm waters all year round, the exotic islands are dream destinations for a catamaran cruise. You will have access to remote places and will be able to sail at your own pace through the islands and coves. It is often cheaper to rent a catamaran with or without a skipper than to stay in the luxury hotels offered on these islands.
- Thailand: Let yourself be transported by the wild beauty of Thailand. Explore the islands of the Andaman Sea on your cruise, dive into clear waters to admire the marine life or drop anchor close-hauled to a secluded beach. Thailand offers an authentic sailing experience, where culture, nature and gastronomy meet.
- Nordic countries: For those looking for an extraordinary adventure, a cruise in the Nordic countries is the ideal solution. The Svalbard archipelago in Norway, with its majestic glaciers and arctic wildlife, is a destination not to be missed by nature lovers. Iceland or even the Azores, for those who feel the cold, will offer you extraordinary panoramas and a guaranteed change of scenery.
When to sail on a catamaran?
Catamaran charters are available all year round, but some times of the year are more favorable depending on the destination. For the Mediterranean and the Nordic countries, the summer season, from May to September, is ideal for enjoying the sun and the bustle of the ports. If you go in winter, consider the Caribbean or Thailand. These destinations are perfect for escaping the European winter. Finally, for a catamaran charter in Polynesia, the best time is from May to October.
Useful information for your catamaran charter
Who is a catamaran charter for?
Catamaran charter with or without a skipper is particularly suitable for holidays with family or friends. Its living space and the equipment on board (stand-up paddle, windsurfing board, kayak, etc.) will allow you to spend pleasant moments in a heavenly setting. This type of vacation is suitable for beginners who have never sailed before, as well as for sea lovers looking for a thrill. The wide range of offers and options means that everyone can rent a catamaran to suit their wants and needs. Catamaran charter with a skipper will allow you to embark on your first experience aboard a multihull.
How long should you rent a catamaran for?
The most common option is a week's charter to make the most of the unique sailing experience. In high season, it is not possible to rent a catamaran for less than 7 days. In low season, especially in the Mediterranean, charters of a minimum of 3 days are possible. In the Caribbean and the Seychelles, charters of between 5 and 10 days are available all year round.
Is there a cancellation insurance or damage waiver in case of problems?
Yes, and we advise you to take out our cancellation insurance. It will cover all members of the crew, whereas individual cancellation insurance or insurance via your bank card will only cover the policyholder. We also encourage you to take out damage waiver insurance. On a boat, damage can happen to even the best sailors. This insurance will allow you to recover a significant portion of your deposit in the event of damage related to navigation.
How do I finalize the booking of my catamaran?
Once we have received your charter request, an advisor will contact you by telephone to discuss your sailing plans. They will then send you a selection of catamarans by email. Once you have found the ideal boat, you can pay a deposit in your customer area to confirm the charter and secure the boat.
