Yacht charter Lithuania
Last updated on 7 April 2025
Lithuania is a small country in the Baltic Sea, over a thousand years old. For yachtsmen, this Baltic country holds incredible surprises and unforgettable discoveries in store. By choosing yacht charter in Lithuania, you can map out different sailing itineraries to visit Northern Europe.
The port of Klaipéda
Klaïpeda, the only port in Lithuania, is located in the north of the Baltic Sea. The waters do not freeze, even in winter. Founded in 1252, it is rich in history and sagas, as it still celebrates old maritime traditions, such as the Sea Festival. The city's two sailing clubs have all the necessary equipment for water sports enthusiasts.
As you explore the city, you will discover a wealth of architecture, evoking its Germanic past with its famous wrought-iron Clock Tower. At around midday on weekends, carillon concerts lull the Old Post Office to sleep, while the country's best sculptors proudly display their works in the Contemporary Sculpture Park.
With your yacht charter, departing from Klaipéda, you can reach Palanga, the most beautiful seaside resort in the country, located to the north, or head south towards the Curonian Spit.
Two unmissable places
Palanga is a tourist town par excellence. Located about ten kilometers from the Latvian border, it has sites of great beauty, such as the Botanical Garden, with its fragrant rose garden, and the Amber Museum. The sea below is conducive to daydreams blending reality and legends stirred up by the pagan rites that are said to have taken place there.
Nature and the sea also meet at the Curonian Spit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can relax on its white sandy beaches, surrounded by pine forests. The silence is occasionally broken by the sound of the waves or the cry of a stag or a deer. It is possible to rent a pedalo or a water-jet-ski in Nida, one of the four small towns nestling on the coast. A nice change from cruising and a chance to get your fill of thrills!
