Welcome aboard in Kirkenes! The border with Russia is only a few kilometers away, and road signs in... see+ Kirkenes are in Norwegian and Russian. You can visit the border on one of our excursions, or why not visit the Snow Resort Kirkenes ski resort where everything is made of ice and snow? For the rest of the first day on board, we recommend exploring the ship and simply enjoying the magnificent Arctic nature passing by behind the large panoramic windows. How about a workout in our well-equipped gym? Or a dip in our jacuzzi followed by a visit to the sauna? In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner and we are sure you will sleep well in our comfortable beds after these eventful days in the Arctic.

Your ship arrives at the pier in Svolvær at 6:30 p.m. You board, check in, and are shown to your... see+ new cabin before the journey continues south. The ship departs Svolvær, heading for Stamsund and then Bodø, as evening falls over the Lofoten Islands. You’ll enjoy a three-course dinner in the restaurant while the wild and magnificent coastal landscape glides peacefully by outside the panoramic windows.

By now, we have traveled far enough to cross the Arctic Circle. Even so, the Northern Lights are... see+ still visible in winter, while summer nights are never completely dark. As we sail south along the Helgeland coast, we pass through a maze of small islands, islets, and reefs, as well as the remarkable Torghatten mountain, famous for its natural hole that runs through the rock. If you’d like, you can also join an excursion to climb the mountain and walk through the hole.

Dog sledding in the Arctic, Kirkenes

Available during winter and spring (from November 1 to May 20).
The bus will be waiting at the quay to bring you to the base, where you get to meet the dogs and are given... see+ instructions and suitable clothing. A five-kilometre dog sledding round trip. Snacks and hot drinks in the restaurant. Bus back to your ship.Wear comfortable shoes and warm clothes.

Snowmobile safari in the Arctic, Kirkenes

You will be picked up by bus at the quay. Snowmobile instructions and clothing will be provided at the snowmobile... see+ base. Return to the ship by bus. The excursion requires generally good health and a Class B driver's licence (must be 18 years of age). Maximum two people share a snowmobile. Children must be at least ten years of age.

Transport, guide, warm clothes, and survival suits are included in the price. Changing and safety... see+ instructions at the base. Bus there and back. Children must be at least 7 years old. The trip is suitable for most people, but you must be able to sit on the "saddle seat." Not recommended for people with back problems.

The Russian border

A bus will collect you from the quay, transporting you to the Russian border. Although border crossing is prohibited, the journey includes stops at intriguing... see+ locales. You'll visit Andersgrotta and a memorial monument dedicated to the Russian army before returning to the Havila Voyages ship. Please note, Andersgrotta, with its steep stairs and rugged terrain, may be challenging for those with mobility limitations. Warm attire and comfortable footwear are recommended for this excursion.

Midnight Concert at Tromsø Cathedral

Snowmobile trip in the polar night
