First port of Sicily, Palermo has seen a succession of many civilizations (Byzantines, Arabs, Normans) who have each left their mark in art and local customs. Center of commercial and artistic exchanges, Palermo has always fascinated writers, poets and artists. Hard hit by bombing during the Second World War, the city is now undertaking a major operation to upgrading its city center.
Atmosphere Sicilian Palermo is beautiful, though very dirty. Behind doorways do not pay mine are small shaded patios serving superb cross stairs.
An effort was made to clean the port and convert into marina. The water is still very dirty.
But this basic boat rental is well located for a cruise along the coast both east than to the west or even a cruise to the Aeolian, which are about fifty miles from Palermo.
