One of our bases sailboat rentals is located in Marsala on the west coast of Sicily; this is a city that piottoresque, founded by the Carthaginians, but derives its name from the Arabs (Marsal-Allah, God Havre); Marsala is especially well known for its wines
It's a nice stop and quiet where you can go either to the Northwest to visit the Egadi islands 25 nautical miles, to the south at the same distance to the island of Pantelleria, an island of origin volcabique or Lampedusa, rocky and barren, with very favorable funding to spearfishing.
Marsala is also a good starting point for Malta, 120 miles and of course for Tunisia.
