One of our sailboat charter bases is in Marsala, on the west coast of Sicily.
It is a pleasant and peaceful port of call from which you can set off either to the northwest to visit the Egadi Islands 25 nautical miles away, or to the south the same distance to the island of Pantelleria, an island of volcanic origin, or Lampedusa, rocky and barren, with sea beds that are very conducive to underwater hunting. Marsala is also a good point of departure for Malta, 120 nautical miles away.
Marsala is an Italian city belonging to the province of Trapani. The latter enjoys a mild climate almost all year round, with occasional rainy winters. Famous for its wines, it also owes its reputation to its unspoiled environment, which attracts many visitors every year.
An obvious choice for a wonderful vacation in Sicily
This city may well be located on the western point of the island, but it is still just as captivating for its charm and the liveliness of its inhabitants. Bacchus' disciples will be in the right place as Marsala has several wine cellars allowing you to veer off for a little tasting. Does Sicilian history fascinate you? If so, don't miss a stroll through the center of the old town. Castles, convents and monasteries will lend themselves readily to a little photo session.
San Tommaso is also an interesting place for art lovers, which will arouse their curiosity. Despite its charmless facade, this magnificent cathedral and its interior decorations will captivate you! After exploring the heart of the city, think about turning towards nature and definitely choosing to discover the lagoon. The lagoon is the ideal place to recharge your batteries and be at one with nature. In good weather, many species of birds, such as flamingos, put on a show as they frolic in the air, twirling around to put travelers' minds at the mast top.
Turn towards the sea
Discovering Marsala and its surroundings is not limited to an excursion on land. The sea will also seduce you and invite you to discover the region with a sailboat charter in Sicily. The nearby Aegadian Islands are another destination that you can reach thanks to the yacht charter in Marsala. Touring each of these pearls emerging from the sea is a moment of pure happiness. It will also be a great opportunity to drop anchor not far from the coast and explore the seabed. All the more so as diving is one of the most popular activities among boaters captivated by the beauty of Marsala. Once on dry land, don't take your eyes off the sea, which is adorned with majestic fishing boats painting it a thousand colors.
