Phnom Penh
Welcome to Phnom Penh, once known as the “Paris of the East.”
Despite its rapid development, it... see+ retains its rustic charm and elegance, with centuries of history palpable at every street corner.
The guided tour begins after breakfast: by bus, we’ll visit the Killing Fields on the outskirts of the city, followed by the “S21” Central Prison.
These two historic sites shed light on the tragic and cruel chapter of the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s—a heart-wrenching period.
You can also explore the city on your own in the morning before joining the group.
We’ll have lunch at a renowned restaurant in the city, experiencing the elegant atmosphere of Phnom Penh’s finest establishments.
Our exploration continues with the cultural highlights of the city’s heritage: the golden Royal Palace with its Silver Pagoda and the exceptional Khmer craftsmanship on display at the National Museum.
The excursion ends with a “cyclo” ride through the bustling streets of downtown and a return to the ship.
In the early evening, the lounge hosts a lecture on the modern history of Cambodia, given by our local expert, Mr. Jean-Michel, a professor at the Royal University of Phnom Penh.

Relax or join the other passengers at the bar for refreshing drinks.
It’s a special evening: an open-air gala featuring a barbecue dinner, accompanied by a performance of classical Apsara dance and other folk dances.

Phnom Penh Kampong Cham
We leave Phnom Penh before dawn for the village of Angkor Ban on the Mekong River, famous for its... see+ well-preserved community and beautiful traditional houses.
It feels as if we’ve been transported a hundred years back in time, to an era untouched by modernity, where the villagers are known for their warmth.
During the boat ride upstream, lunch is served, and then our staff presents traditional Khmer clothing worn on special occasions.
The ubiquitous Cambodian scarf, the krama, is worn by everyone, regardless of age or background.
Multifunctional, it serves as a bandana, face mask, belt, swimsuit, and even a sling for carrying children.
We sail on to visit a local school and learn more about the education of Cambodia’s younger generation.
The children of the Organization for Basic Training (OBT) receive free supplementary education in English, math, and the arts, and are delighted to showcase their talents in music and dance.
Shower the young performers with applause and receive in return the most genuine Cambodian smiles.
We continue on to the pre-Angkorian temple of Wat Hanchey (7th century), once dedicated to the Hindu god Hirahara, now a Buddhist temple.
Situated on a hill, it offers a breathtaking view of the Mekong River.
Many young novice monks live there; we’ll get a glimpse of their daily lives: simple meals, prayer, study, and conversations in saffron robes.
Another temple along the way: the peaceful monastery of Wat Nokor, the largest in Kampong Cham province, with its black sandstone walls.
We may exchange a few pleasantries with the friendly monks there.
Back on board, we relax until dinner.

Kampong Cham Koh Oknha Tey Kampong Tralach
Early in the morning, we continue sailing downstream on the Mekong River.
The ship stops at Koh... see+ Oknha Tey Island, in the middle of the Mekong, famous for its high-quality silk.
By tuk-tuk, we tour the island’s roads before arriving at the village workshops.
We witness the fascinating process of silk production, from the tiny silkworm larva to the cocoon, followed by dyeing, spinning, and weaving into high-quality Cambodian silk.
Before lunch, our expert guide explains the geography of the Mekong and Tonlé Lake, as well as the region’s unique characteristics.
A blessing ceremony led by monks offers spiritual comfort and wishes for health and prosperity for all.
The ship continues on its way, passing the confluence of the Mekong and Tonlé rivers.
Gliding through the lush, jungle-like landscape, we reach Kampong Tralach, where laughing children enthusiastically greet our arrival.
In the heart of the Cambodian countryside, traditional oxcarts remain a common means of transportation.
Our oxcart takes us along the river and down side roads lined with rice paddies to a small village.
For the past few years, children in the area have been able to receive an education here.
The “Green School” is a local project supported by Heritage Line in this remote region to assist disadvantaged youth.
The students, dressed in green shirts, are always happy to see us; the principal introduces us and updates us on the school’s current situation.
Tonight, the boat will anchor on the Tonle River close to Kampong Chhnang, allowing you to observe the nearby river life until dinner.

Kampong Tralach Kampong Chhnang Tonlé Lake
After a sumptuous breakfast, we arrive in Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia’s “world of water,” where... see+ everything balances on stilts in waterlogged soil.
This is perhaps the most fascinating place for a cruise in Cambodia.
We’ll take a local boat to the shore, then a minibus to a truly unique rural village.
As we explore the village on foot, our guide will highlight its specialties: Khmer-style pottery and the production of palm sugar from the Cambodian “skor t’not” palm tree.
We’ll return to the shore and the ship by local boat.
In this area along the Tonlé River, communities used to live in floating houses.
Their inhabitants—Vietnamese descendants who were expelled by the Khmer Rouge—returned after 1979.
With no land of their own, they lived “on the water” until 2021, when the government relocated them to dry land.
Back on board, lunch is served as your floating sanctuary glides gently along the narrow Tonlé River toward the vast Tonlé Sap Lake.
The river then opens up into a vast “sea”—the largest freshwater lake in Asia.
Consider yourself lucky: this shallow lake is usually only navigable during the high-water season, from August to mid-November.
Tonlé Sap varies in size from 2,500 km² during the dry season to 16,000 km² during the rainy season, with its length expanding from 160 km to 250 km.
Now out on the open water, let your mind drift and your eyes wander toward Siem Reap during the crossing.
Our team invites you to a farewell event featuring Cambodian music and dance before dinner.

Enjoy your last breakfast on board our floating sanctuary. The Tonle Sap (The Great Lake) is the... see+ flowing heart of Cambodia, giving love and life to millions of people. This rich ecosystem and UNESCO-designated Biosphere Reserve has more fish than any other lake in the world and is home to an incredible variety of birds, including rare and endangered feathered life. Here, our Heritage Line cruise comes to an end this morning. We prepare to disembark the ship and take a local boat to the shore, passing a vast floating community. We arrive at the Siem Reap pier and bring you to the drop off point in the city centre. We hope you enjoyed this fascinating river cruise, just as our crew does every single time.
