Phnom Penh Tan Chau
Welcome aboard for your adventure on the Mekong River.
After check-in, we invite you to enjoy one... see+ of the highlights of this cruise before we set sail.
The lounge will host a lecture on the modern history of Cambodia, led by our local expert, Mr. Jean-Michel, a professor at the Royal University of Phnom Penh.
He’ll share his firsthand knowledge and surprising insights for about an hour, before we set sail south toward the Vietnamese border.
The rest of the morning and the entire afternoon are yours to enjoy.
Switch to cruise mode and feel the relaxing rhythm of this mighty river.
The afternoon is perfect for massages, relaxing on a lounge chair, or on your private balcony.
Melt into the river and float in a state of blissful contentment.
Visit the deck: the captain always has a story to tell about “his” river.
Those who are curious can join a cooking workshop to discover Khmer cuisine.
During afternoon tea, we approach the border and arrive in Vietnam.
It’s a short distance to Tan Chau, a pleasant, laid-back border town with a large Chinese, Kinh, and Khmer community.
We’ll moor close to the town with a view of the riverbanks.

Tan Chau My An Hung Sa Dec
Welcome to Vietnam’s fish reserve.
Once ashore, we hop on a “xeloi”—a local vehicle still... see+ used as a taxi—to explore the bustling life of Tan Chau.
Your personal driver navigates slowly through the streets, allowing you to take in the workshops, homes, and shops in a relaxed atmosphere.
We’ll stop at the colorful local market close to a temple—the perfect opportunity to chat with vendors and try your hand at bargaining.
To discover what Tan Chau is famous for, we’ll board local boats headed for a floating fish farm, offering an exclusive glimpse into the world’s largest inland aquaculture operation.
Each floating structure has a suspended net to contain the fish, which are raised and fed daily.
Regional specialties: tilapia and Basa catfish (Pangasius), unique to the Mekong Basin and increasingly popular on the international market.
Back on board, take a dip in the pool before lunch.
After the meal, our guides will give a presentation on life in the Mekong Delta while the ship continues toward My An Hung, close to Sa Dec.
My An Hung is a wonderful example of a local village where time stands still.
We explore the private home of a local family and visit the seasonal vegetable fields.
We’re invited into their home for a tasting of Vietnamese tea, often sweetened with honey—a regional specialty.
The family presents a wide variety of freshly cut fruits from the delta.
While a group of performers executes a traditional dragon dance, we snack on these “vitamin bombs.”
The sun sets, bathing everything in a golden hue: the perfect backdrop for a riverside gathering with cocktails and dancing with the crew.

Sa Dec Binh Thanh Cai Be My Tho
This morning, the ship arrives at Binh Thanh Island, one of the largest islands in the Mekong... see+ River.
Several communities there make their living by cultivating water hyacinths; we’ll visit one of these unspoiled areas exclusively.
As we stroll through the village, we gain a deep understanding of local life.
A local artisan demonstrates the entire process of making traditional rugs; you can try your hand at weaving yourself.
We also meet an elderly couple who share their life story on the island; they’re always happy to chat with our guests.
Back on the boat, lunch is served, and we sail toward Cai Be, a charming town famous for its French Catholic church and traditional crafts.
The once-vast floating market has been shrinking year by year, as trade shifts toward modern markets.
You can still see the boat-to-boat trade in fruits and agricultural products and imagine its former scale.
Our guide explains the long-standing trading culture and the special markings on each boat used to inform buyers.
Aboard a local boat, we cruise along the green canals and watch the farmers at work.
A shore excursion reveals the production of rice paste, rice paper, rice cakes, and rice wine.
The palm-fringed countryside around Cai Be is also famous for its coconut candies.
Back on board, our crew invites you to a farewell celebration featuring Cambodian music and dance.
Enjoy your final dinner on board and relive the week’s adventures with a glass of wine at the open bar.
