Our smaller expedition ship allows us to reach areas inaccessible to larger vessels, meaning you’ll have the opportunity to explore more secluded channels with breathtaking scenery. Discover a wilderness where wildlife thrives
Located in the Tongass National Forest, the Misty... see+ Fjords offer a pristine wilderness dotted with evergreen trees, waterfalls, and majestic snow-capped peaks. The famous naturalist writer John Muir described the region as one of the most beautiful places he had ever seen. Weather permitting, you’ll join the expedition team for a tour of the Misty Fjords aboard our small expedition boats, or you can go on a kayaking excursion. The Misty Fjords are home to a rich variety of wildlife. During your exploration, you may spot mountain goats, black and brown bears, and moose. These waters are home to Pacific salmon, otters, Steller sea lions, harbor seals, orcas, and Dall’s porpoises. Meanwhile, in the sky, you may see herons and bald eagles.

Misty Fjords Wrangell
Visit one of Alaska’s oldest port cities
We’ll continue our cruise through the Alaskan... see+ archipelago toward Wrangell. A traditional homeland of the Tlingit people for 8,000 years, Wrangell has been under Russian rule, then British rule, over the past two centuries, and is now part of the United States. Visit the local museum to learn more about the town’s fascinating past. Then take the ferry to Shakes Island to discover Tlingit history at Chief Shakes’ Tribal House and its collection of totem poles. Just 1.5 km from town, visit the historic Petroglyph Beach, dotted with rocks covered in ancient carvings created by the Tlingit people over 1,000 years ago. Feel like hiking? Set out on the nature trails in this stunning setting, from the mouth of the Stikine River and the foot of Mount Dewey, to the edge of the temperate rainforest.

Wrangell Sitka
Soak up the diverse cultures and panoramic views of Sitka
Nestled in the heart of the Tongass... see+ National Forest, Sitka is accessible only by sea or air. Step out onto the deck to admire the view of the Sisters Mountains and Mount Edgecumbe. Inhabited by the Tlingit people for 10,000 years, Sitka was colonized by Russian explorers at the turn of the 19th century before being sold to the United States following Russia’s defeat in the Crimean War. Today, these three cultures coexist in the city. We recommend visiting the Russian Orthodox Cathedral and the Russian Bishop’s House. Be sure to also visit Sitka National Historical Park to admire the totem poles carved by the Haida and Tlingit peoples, then take the hiking trail through the forest to reach the ocean.

Observe the wildlife in the glacier-fed waters
Today, we’re setting out to explore Icy Bay. Three... see+ glaciers (Guyot, Yahtse, and Tyndall) flow into the bay’s waters, hence its name. Weather permitting, you’ll explore the area aboard our small expedition boats or by kayak to fully appreciate the beauty of this icy landscape. Mount St. Elias, located on the border between Alaska and the Yukon, is also visible from Icy Bay. Known for its steep slopes, it is the second-highest peak in the United States and Canada, rising to an elevation of 5,488 meters. In the Gulf of Alaska, we’ll set out in search of the humpback whales, orcas, sea otters, and harbor seals that inhabit these waters.

A day at sea to relax and watch the birds
Your cruise continues through the Gulf of Alaska. This is... see+ the perfect time to enjoy the onboard facilities, including the infinity pool, hot tubs, and sauna. Go for a run on the deck, work out in the fitness center, or treat yourself to a massage at the spa. At the science center, the expedition team invites you to attend lectures on Alaska’s wildlife, geology, glaciology, history, and culture. Settle in at the bar to share a drink with fellow passengers or simply enjoy the view. Keep an eye on the sky for the three species of North Pacific albatrosses. The Laysan albatross and the black-footed albatross are common in the region, while the short-tailed albatross is harder to spot.

Kodiak Island, nicknamed the “Emerald Isle,” is... see+ dotted with lush temperate forests, mountains, and a rugged coastline. Its wetlands are home to a wide variety of bird and wildlife species, including the island’s most iconic inhabitants: Kodiak bears. About 3,500 of them live in the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, which covers two-thirds of the island. We’ll go in search of whales, sea otters, and seals, and with a little luck, we’ll spot Kodiak bears in their natural habitat, against the backdrop of Alaska’s breathtaking wilderness.

Your adventure continues in Katmai National Park, which... see+ spans nearly 1.5 million acres and is home to more than a dozen active volcanoes. Katmai is home to over 2,000 protected brown bears, the largest concentration in the world. We’ll observe them safely from the deck of our small expedition boats as they forage for berries and clams or fish in the streams. Explore an abandoned village in Alaska
Wild and desolate, the village of Unga is a fascinating... see+ settlement located at the southern tip of Unga Island. Settled by the Unangan people in 1833, it was abandoned in 1969 after subsistence fishing proved insufficient to sustain its inhabitants. The few wooden buildings still standing today are the only evidence of a past life. A carpet of pink willowherb, fireweed, and other wildflowers surrounds the abandoned cabins, as nature has gradually reclaimed the land. Discover the mysterious beauty of this place during a landing in the heart of nature made possible by our expedition vessels.

Unga Dutch Harbor
Discover the fascinating history of America’s largest fishing port
Dutch Harbor is America’s... see+ largest fishing port, making it a fascinating place to visit. As you sail toward it, you’ll catch a glimpse of Makushin Volcano. Still active, it rises to nearly 1,830 meters. At the Aleutian Museum, you’ll learn about the local indigenous people, the Aleuts. Visit the Russian Orthodox Cathedral or the World War II Museum, which commemorates the battle that took place here in 1942. Keep an eye out for bald eagles and puffins. Foxes, lemmings, and wild horses are abundant on land, while whales, sea lions, and porpoises thrive at sea. Dutch Harbor is where the reality TV series "Deep Sea" was filmed, which follows crab fishermen at work in extreme conditions.

Dutch Harbor Bering Sea
Heading for wilderness and remote communities
Over the next four days, we’ll cross the Bering Sea... see+ toward Nome. This part of the journey will consist of two days at sea and two days of exploration, during which your captain will choose the best destination based on weather conditions. For example, we may visit the wild island of Saint Paul, home to the largest Aleut community in the United States. It is also an important bird conservation area, where species such as the Aleutian sandpiper and the tufted puffin nest.
Saint Matthew Island may also be on the itinerary, with its abandoned buildings nestled between black-sand beaches and tundra dotted with wildflowers. You might even spot the rare white sparrows, which breed and nest exclusively on this island.
Scan the waters and skies for puffins, guillemots, and razorbills, especially close to the coast. With a little luck, you might spot the foggy gull, found only in this part of the world.
Enjoy the panoramic view from the bar, the infinity pool, or the outdoor hot tubs. Or visit the science center to learn more about the region’s geography, climate, and birdlife from our expedition team.

Bering Sea Nome Seattle
Discover Nome’s Golden Age
Nome attracted its first gold prospectors as early as 1898, and gold... see+ panning is still practiced there today. Remnants of the gold rush can be found everywhere, such as abandoned dredges, early 20th-century steam engines, and old railroad tracks, which give the town its unique atmosphere.
Nome was also the final destination of three of Roald Amundsen’s major polar expeditions, notably during his attempt to reach the North Pole by air in 1926.
Nome is therefore the perfect place to say our goodbyes before catching a flight back to Seattle, where you’ll spend the night.

End your adventures in the “Emerald City”
Your exploration of Alaska concludes with a visit to... see+ Seattle. If you have a few hours to spare, take a stroll through Olympic Sculpture Park, where works by renowned artists are displayed across 36,000 square meters, and where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Puget Sound and the surrounding mountains. And to awaken your senses, head to the famous Pike Place Market. Open for over a century, this local farmers’ market draws crowds with its fishmongers tossing salmon, street musicians, and bars.

Heading towards the Misty Fjords region, the captain will determine the exact route on the day itself to ensure... see+ you experience the most beautiful adventures and moments based on the weather conditions. We will be on the lookout for black bears along the wooded shoreline, observe majestic whales, and watch graceful eagles hunting in the salmon-rich waters.

Your day begins with a scenic jet boat ride to the trailhead of the observatory in the Tongass National Forest. Your guide will lead you through the pristine temperate rainforest to the Anan Creek waterfalls. Here, eagles soar overhead while brown and black... see+ bears, accompanied by their cubs, hunt for salmon swimming upstream. In the nearby bays, you might even spot seals, dolphins, orcas, and humpback whales.
