Esna El Hegz
Departure for a tour of the Karnak Temple.
The Karnak Temple was the most important temple in... see+ Thebes (now Luxor), in Upper Egypt. It was here that the cult of the great god Amun of Thebes was practiced. As such, it was extremely wealthy, and its clergy wielded great political power.
Tour of Luxor Temple. Luxor Temple is dedicated to the rejuvenation of the monarchy; it is possible that many Egyptian pharaohs were crowned there, whether in reality or symbolically (as in the case of Alexander the Great, who claimed to have been crowned at Luxor, although he may never have traveled south of Memphis, close to present-day Cairo).

Departure for a visit to the Temple of Khnum.
The temple dedicated to Khnum now lies 10 meters below the level of the rest of the city. Today, it consists only of a large hypostyle hall from the Roman period. It encompasses the Ptolemaic façade, the sole remnant of the temple built by Ptolemy VI (180–164 and 163–145).

Relax in a deck chair and watch the river scenery pass by as the crew navigates toward Gebel Silsileh. You can explore the rock-cut chapels of Seti I, Ramses II, Merneptah, and Horemheb, as well as the remains of monuments in the ancient sandstone quarries.

The Kom... see+ Ombo Temple, located about 40 kilometers north of Aswan, was built in its current form during the reign of Ptolemy VI Philometor (the naos) and continued through the Roman period (the courtyard and outer peribolos corridor). It was dedicated to the gods Haroeris (falcon) and Sobek (crocodile): each shared one half of the temple, the former in the north and the latter in the south.

Departure for a tour of the Unfinished... see+ Obelisk.
The builders of the obelisk began carving it directly from the bedrock, but cracks appeared in the granite, and the project was abandoned. The lower part of the obelisk is still attached to the bedrock.
The Unfinished Obelisk offers unusual insights into stone-carving techniques in ancient Egypt, with marks from the workers’ tools still clearly visible, as well as ochre lines marking the areas where they were working.
Visit to the Temple of Philae.
The Temple of Isis was one of the last temples in ancient Egypt to remain active, continuing to function until the reign of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I (527–565 AD), who ordered the closure of all pagan temples. It was here that a priest of Isis named Esmet-Akhom carved the very last dated hieroglyphic inscription, dating back to the end of the 4th century AD (394 AD). The temple was later converted into a Christian church, and many inscriptions were deliberately destroyed.

Further information
Dahabiehs are traditional sailing boats that navigate primarily under sail. When wind conditions do not permit it, or on certain stretches of the Nile, the boat may be towed at a distance (approximately 30 m) by a small tugboat, as dahabiehs do not have engines
