Lunch with a local family, followed by the temples of Karnak (the largest ancient religious complex, 2.5 km², a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and Luxor (built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II, 260 m long, dedicated to Amun). The two temples were connected by the Avenue of the 600 Sphinxes.

Cruise to Edfu, passing through the Esna Lock. Transfer to the temple by bus (the horse-drawn... see+ carriage was abandoned for greater comfort). The Temple of Edfu combines traditional New Kingdom features with Greek elements, including the mamisi (house of divine birth), where the walls depict the birth of the infant Horus. Cruise to a small island for the night.

Dahabiehs are traditional sailing boats that navigate primarily under sail. When wind conditions do not permit it, or on certain stretches of the Nile, the boat may be towed at a distance (approximately 30 m) by a small tugboat, as dahabiehs do not have engines
