Luxor Esna El Hegz
Meet our guide for a visit to the Karnak Temple, renowned for the immensity of its hypostyle hall... see+ (134 columns arranged in 16 rows, alternating open and closed papyrus-shaped capitals, over 7 meters in diameter). Transfer to the West Bank for a visit to the Valley of the Kings (main entrance), the highlight of the West Bank sites. This site, a collection of several dozen tombs scattered at the foot of a rocky mountain, was chosen because the highest mountain has the shape of a pyramid.
We then take a 30-minute coach ride to Esna, home port of the “Dahabiehs,” elegant double-lateen-sail boats, modern replicas of the Pharaohs' sacred barges. Welcomed on board by the crew, we are offered a refreshing rosewater-scented towel and, as a welcome drink, a glass of fresh karkade (hibiscus flower infusion, an Egyptian specialty) or freshly squeezed lemon juice, which we enjoy on the shaded deck, seated in deck chairs or reclining in an oriental style on cushions under stretched canvas to take in the landscapes along the Nile.
We explore the boat, its cabins, their comforts (windows, en-suite bathroom with sink, shower, and private toilet), and the careful decoration in each. Finally, at the front, the library lounge, adorned with numerous cushions, carpets, and decorative objects, exudes an oriental charm, inviting relaxation and "meditation." We settle into our cabins before enjoying our first lunch on board.
Our journey begins... The afternoon is devoted to relaxation and contemplation. We arrive at El-Hegz for an anchorage by the sugarcane fields. On the upper deck, we are invited to a traditional Egyptian dinner prepared by our chef.

El Hegz El Kab Edfou Fawaza
Sail to El Kaab, a 5,000-year-old city with even older traces of habitation. El Kaab is surrounded... see+ by enormous mud-brick walls dating from the period 747 - 332 BC. After breakfast, we visit the rendezvous site of Horus and his wife Hathor, coming from Denderah for the “Beautiful Union” festival. Bas-reliefs and polychrome paintings adorn the walls of the tombs of Nekheb's governors overlooking the ancient city. A short stroll in the surrounding area before sailing back to Edfu. Lunch on board. On the river, we discover the life of fishermen aboard Sandals loaded with sugar cane or stones, or traditional feluccas. We soon arrive in Edfu for a visit to the temple dedicated to the falcon god Horus. In small groups of 2 or 3, we take a horse-drawn carriage through the town to reach the temple, one of the best preserved in Egypt. It's also the one that best expresses the contemplation and serenity of sacred places. It's a veritable open book on the myths and legends of the Egypt of the Pharaohs. Return to the boat by horse-drawn carriage, and continue sailing to the island of Fawaza.
Barbecue dinner on an island. The natural setting of this stopover is enhanced by a few lights, creating a festive atmosphere. In keeping with tradition, the boat's crew light a fire, sing and dance to the rhythm of the “Darbouka” drums.

Fawaza Bassaw Gebel Silsileh Beshir
When you wake up, the landscape is transformed. Breakfast and an early bath for those who wish,... see+ precede another day of sailing. A stopover in the small village of Basaw, deserted by tourism, allows for direct contact without any mercantile considerations. The houses are adorned with frescoes depicting the owner's journey to Mecca. Before leaving the village, the crew stocks up on fish such as perch. Discover traditional fishing with local fishermen in their small boats, freely teasing the Nile perch and its congeners. You'll learn how to cast the traditional net, tap the surface of the mythical waters and bring back your daily lunch on board. Lunch on board during navigation. At the end of the day, we reach the site of Djebel Silsila. Here, the Nile narrows as it winds its way between sheer sandstone cliffs. Throughout the New Kingdom and Greco-Roman periods, thousands of men worked in the Silsila quarries to extract the sandstone used to build the temples. Our walk along the rocky sandstone cliffs takes us to the quarries with their many small chapels, the sanctuary of Horemheb, places of celebration of the Nile. We also reach the great flood stelae. Beshir Kom Ombo Herdiab
Breakfast on board as we sail to Kom Ombo Visit the temple of Kom Ombo, on the banks of the Nile,... see+ dedicated to Sobeck and Haroeris (Horus the Elder). You'll see mummified crocodiles found in the adjoining cemetery, the Egyptian calendar, surgical instruments arranged on a tray in front of Imhotep (physician and architect of Djoser's Funerary Complex), worshipped by the kneeling Roman emperor Trajan. After the visit, lunch while sailing to the village of Herdiab, one of the few villages on the Nile that still preserves traditional farming methods... Dinner and overnight on board.

Breakfast on board, swimming on Herdiab beach for those who wish Lunch on the way to Aswan We set... see+ off to visit the temple of Philae. This temple was moved by UNESCO between 1972 and 1980 to save it from the waters of the Nile. Situated on an island accessible by small boat, this Greco-Roman temple was long the place of worship of the universal goddess Isis. In the early 19th century, following in the footsteps of the first adventurers, Pierre Lotti, who dubbed it “the pearl of Egypt”, travelled there by dahabieh.
