El Hegz Edfou Fawaza El Ramady Bassaw
Enjoy another leisurely breakfast on the river as you sail toward Edfu, where your guide will... see+ accompany you on another excursion, this time to see the ancient Greco-Roman Temple of Horus / Edfu Temple. This is the best-preserved temple in Egypt, as it was buried under the desert sand and remained hidden for about 2,000 years before being rediscovered and excavated. After your visit, you’ll continue sailing past a few islands where you’ll see children playing along the Nile and buffalo and donkeys wandering along the riverbank. Lunch and continued cruising until we reach the small island village of Bassaw, a community of 500 residents who grow their own food—such as mangoes, bananas, and dates—and fish for a living. They are remarkably isolated from the surrounding areas; Bassaw seems frozen in time...! Visit to the village of Bassaw. Upon arrival at the farmer’s property, we will be welcomed into their home and have the opportunity to ask any questions we may have about the education of girls living on the island (we may even have the chance to bake our own local bread for dinner). Dinner on the island, where the crew presents an Egyptian night with folk performances.

Breakfast on board the boat as we sail to other islands such as Beshir and Maniha, then arrival at... see+ Kom Ombo and a breathtaking view of the Nile. We arrive at the Kom Ombo Temple, where your guide will take you to see the remarkable Kom Ombo Temple. It is one of the most unique and intriguing ancient temples, as it was dedicated to two different gods, Sobek and Horus. To achieve this, the builders had to construct two separate temples, resulting in a complex that is essentially two temples in one. We continue sailing toward Aswan, passing by Herdiab Island. After lunch, in the afternoon, we begin our tour of Aswan, starting with the grand and magnificent ancient Temple of Philae. The Temple of Philae, located on Agilka Island, one of Egypt’s most beautiful sanctuaries, was entirely moved from its original site to its current location on higher ground. It was saved from the rising waters of Lake Nasser following the construction of the Aswan High Dam, completed in 1977. On the way back to the boat, we’ll have the chance to stop at the Aswan Souk (market), where we can put our bargaining skills to the test, visit the spice market, and sample the famous sugarcane juice. Overnight in Aswan.
