Boarding at 3:00 p.m. Included excursion: the Strasbourg Christmas market. Coach transfer to... see+ downtown Strasbourg. Explore the Christmas markets at your leisure. The iconic “Christkindelsmärik” unfolds all its magic in the heart of the European capital. More than 300 wooden chalets, spread across various squares in the city and around the cathedral, invite you to enjoy enchanting discoveries in a magical atmosphere. The Petite France district, the most picturesque part of Old Strasbourg. Fishermen, millers, and tanners once lived and worked in this neighborhood built right on the water’s edge. The magnificent half-timbered houses date from the 16th and 17th centuries. Their sloping roofs open onto attics where hides were once dried.
Return to the ship.

Arrival in Rüdesheim in the morning. Optional excursion: ride on the miniature train and visit to... see+ the Museum of Mechanical Music in Rüdesheim. Departure by miniature train to the “Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett” museum, Germany’s first museum dedicated to mechanical musical instruments. From delicate music boxes to the colossal concert-piano orchestrion, no fewer than 350 automatic instruments are on display here, forming one of the largest and most beautiful collections from the 18th to the 20th century, spread over more than 400 m². Free time in the town’s picturesque streets. The famous Drosselgasse awaits you with its open-air cafés and live bands.

Walk back to the ship and cruise along the romantic Rhine to Boppard. This charming little town nestled on the side of the Rhine is located in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Across from the town, you can see the Liebenstein and Sterrenberg castles.

New Year’s Eve dinner on the side of the boat. Those who wish may attend Christmas Mass in Boppard.

Morning cruise to Mainz. Take this opportunity to admire the Rhine Valley, with a string of... see+ beautiful villages lining the river—Bacharach, Assmannshausen, Rüdesheim, Eltville, and more—before arriving in Mainz in the early afternoon.

In the afternoon, explore Mainz with the entertainment team. You’ll be able to admire the magnificent historic mansions, which have been remarkably restored. You’ll also stroll through the picturesque streets of the old town. Feel free to wander at your leisure while taking in the beauty of the surroundings. The cathedral square offers a superb and picturesque setting, with splendid historic houses featuring Renaissance-style facades as a backdrop. The impressive St. Martin’s Cathedral, whose construction began in 975, has left an indelible mark on the city’s history. A short period of free time before returning to the ship.

Visit Strasbourg's Christmas markets
We’ll depart by bus with our tour guide for downtown Strasbourg. The entire city is decked out in Christmas garlands and decorations, especially the streets and stores. Enjoy some free time exploring the Christmas markets located on Place Broglie and the... see+ cathedral plaza. In the late afternoon, enjoy the Christmas lights; you’ll see, among other places, the cathedral square, Place Kléber, the Carré d’Or, and Place Gutenberg. Return to the boat.NOTES Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.Times are approximate.The order of the stops may be subject to change.

Take a ride on a small tourist train through the picturesque streets of Rüdesheim toward Siegfried’s Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments, located in a beautiful historic 15th-century building very close to Drosselgasse. Tour the famous... see+ “Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Cabinet,” which houses an impressive collection of mechanical musical instruments. No fewer than 350 automatic instruments are gathered here, forming one of the largest and most beautiful collections from the 18th to the 20th century, displayed across more than 400 m². A delight for both the ears and the eyes—a true musical adventure. Thanks to these instruments, three centuries of knowledge have been preserved. From small music boxes to the colossal concert-piano orchestrions, the collection features an incredibly diverse range of instruments. You can also admire the tools and machines used to manufacture organ cylinders, cartons, note rollers, and music box plates. Visitors of all ages take great pleasure in discovering this unique music, the techniques of yesteryear, and how these instruments work. After the tour, enjoy some free time in Rüdesheim. Walk back to the boat by heading down Drosselgasse with your feet. NOTES Be sure to wear sturdy walking shoes. The streets are cobblestone. The order of the visits may be subject to change.
