Authentic: Île de... see+ la Cité. You’ll explore the birthplace of Paris on foot. You’ll admire the majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral (interior) (if unavailable or during services, the visit to Notre-Dame Cathedral will be replaced by a visit to the Sainte-Chapelle), a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. After the devastating fire of 2019, the cathedral has regained its full splendor and continues to embody the history and soul of Paris. You’ll stroll through the island’s picturesque alleyways and head toward the Sainte-Chapelle (exterior), famous for its exceptional stained-glass windows, where multicolored light depicts biblical scenes. Your tour will end at the Pont Neuf, the city’s oldest bridge, offering a splendid view of the Seine and its romantic quays.

Authentic: La Roche-Guyon and its castle.... see+ Nestled between the Seine and a chalk cliff, La Roche-Guyon is one of the most beautiful villages in France. You’ll visit its castle, a fascinating blend of medieval and classical architecture, with its fortified tower perched atop the cliff, offering a breathtaking view of the valley. You’ll explore its historic rooms and stroll through the French gardens designed by Le Nôtre, featuring vegetable gardens and medicinal plants. Finally, you’ll stroll through the village’s picturesque narrow streets, steeped in history and bucolic charm.

Experience: tour of Claude Monet’s house and gardens (Claude Monet’s house is open from April 1 to November 1. Outside these dates, the tour is replaced by a visit to La Roche-Guyon and its castle). The famous Impressionist painter lived for forty-three years in his home in Giverny. This avant-garde artist is recognized as one of the founders of the Impressionist movement and made light the “main character” of his sublime landscapes. His long career and colorful works embody the transition from tradition to modernity. Between the famous artist’s studio and his “water garden,” visitors are swept away by the magic of the place, the moment, and the elements.

Tour of Claude Monet's House and Gardens
Departure by bus for the Claude Monet Foundation in Giverny. Claude Monet lived in his house in Giverny from 1883 to 1926—nearly forty-three years. As passionate about gardening as he was about colors, he designed his flower garden and water garden as true... see+ works of art; he even said: “It took me a long time to understand my water lilies… I cultivated them without thinking of painting them… A landscape doesn’t sink in overnight… And then, all of a sudden, I had a revelation about the magic of my pond. I picked up my palette. Since then, I’ve had hardly any other subject to paint. ” As they stroll through his house, visitors can still sense the atmosphere that reigned in the home of the master of Impressionism. The Norman-style house faces away from the street. Discover its pink façade as you enter the garden. Inside, the artist’s preference for warm tones becomes apparent: the kitchen is a deep blue, as is the small living room. The dining room, whose yellow color extends to the fireplace, chairs, and ceiling, is decorated with Japanese prints, which the artist collected. The artist’s studio has been recreated in the barn. The original paintings there have been replaced with reproductions.
