Afternoon dedicated to a guided tour of Paris. This city tour will take you to see the capital’s major landmarks, such as Place de la République, the Grand Boulevards, the Opera, the Madeleine, Place Vendôme, and the Louvre. Starting at the Palais Royal, we invite you on a unique stroll through Paris’s most beautiful covered arcades. Serving as shortcuts for pedestrians, these arcades are like little villages in the heart of the capital. You’ll take a journey back in time and through history around the Palais Royal.

During the holiday season, the covered arcades are true marvels of light. In a festive and colorful atmosphere, you’ll discover elegant decorations amid luxury boutiques and traditional shops. Stop for the evening at the Quai d’Austerlitz for a New Year’s Eve dinner paired with fine wines.

A morning cruise on the Seine. Throughout this cruise, you’ll see the capital’s most beautiful... see+ sights and monuments, such as: Île Saint-Louis, Île de la Cité—dominated by Notre-Dame Cathedral—the Louvre Museum, the Tuileries Garden, Place de la Concorde, the Alexandre III Bridge, and further on, the Eiffel Tower and the Trocadéro Gardens… before arriving at Quai de Grenelle.

In the afternoon, enjoy a panoramic bus tour of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood, one of those legendary places where history, architecture, art, and high society epitomize Paris. We’ll drive along the Voie Triomphale, past the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées, and the Place de la Concorde before reaching Saint-Germain-des-Prés. You’ll set out to explore this “little village” right in the heart of Paris. Among other sights, you’ll see the majestic Church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés—this abbey, dating back to 543, is the oldest in Paris—and further on, the Café de Flore, where writers, painters, sculptors, musicians, and others used to gather to work and seek a bit of warmth and inspiration. You might have run into Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Boris Vian, Guillaume Apollinaire, Albert Camus, or even Pablo Picasso there. During the afternoon, you’ll have some free time to explore one of Paris’s Christmas markets and soak up the magic of the season. Return to the ship. Gala evening.

Depart by bus from the Trocadéro to Saint-Germain-des-Prés, traveling along the Triumphal Route. There, you’ll be able to admire the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées, and the Place de la Concorde—all sites steeped in... see+ history. A leisurely stroll with your feet through the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood will allow you to discover the history, architecture, art, and social scene of these legendary places that symbolize Paris. Around the oldest of Paris’s major churches—rebuilt in the year 1000, with a Gothic choir predating Notre-Dame—a maze of streets and small squares preserves buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries. You can still sense a somewhat village-like atmosphere here, such as at the market on Rue de Bucci. Near the Odéon, the figures of the Revolution await us: Danton, Marat, Dr. Guillotin—as well as the oldest café in Paris. Toward the Seine, artists and writers mingle among antique dealers and luxury boutiques. Return to the ship by coach. For Christmas and New Year’s cruises: free time to explore one of Paris’s Christmas markets. NOTES Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.
