The capital of the Côte d'Azur, Nice is... see+ surrounded by an amphitheater of hills and mountains that protect it from the wind. You'll probably be looking forward to seeing the Promenade des Anglais, where you can sit on one of the famous blue chairs facing the Bay of Angels. The hill of the château also offers a very pleasant setting for a stroll. It's also the gateway to the old town, with its lively regional produce markets on the Cours Saleya.

A link between the mountains of Haute Corse and the Agriates desert, the fishing village has become a renowned seaside resort. In front of this jewel nestled in a remote wilderness, sublime sandy beaches line a sea of infinite turquoise hues. At the western tip of the gulf, the Tour de Mortella, built in the 16th century under the Republic of Genoa to warn off invaders, keeps watch. Like most of the towers dotting the Corsican coastline, it is an emblematic and familiar symbol of the island.

And what would Tuscany be without a fascinating and mysterious history? Topped by its 16th-century fortress, this small village is renowned for having witnessed the last days of the famous painter Caravaggio, who is said to be buried here. On the Monte Argentario peninsula, you may have the opportunity to meet the fishermen of the Orbetello lagoon, a nature reserve, who perpetuate an ancestral fishing method, or to meet the local producers of wine, olive oil and cheese. For the more sporty, the wild and unspoilt surrounding countryside offers the opportunity to hike to the heights of the island, to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views.
