Arrive in Mâcon in the early morning. Departure for an excursion through the vineyards of the... see+ Mâconnais and Beaujolais regions. Visit to the wine estate of Georges Duboeuf, known as one of the most famous Beaujolais wine producers. Tasting after tour of the estate. Return on board for lunch. The afternoon is devoted to a visit to Cluny Abbey, the origin of the great monastic movement of the Middle Ages. Its impressive church was the largest in the world until the construction of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Although the abbey is now partly in ruins, it bears witness to the power of the Cluny Order and is an exceptional example of Romanesque art. Dinner on board.

Mâcon Chalon-sur-Saône Beaune Tournus
Morning arrival in Chalon-sur-Saône. Depart on an excursion through the Burgundy vineyards to the... see+ town of Beaune. The route skirts the prestigious estates of Pommard, Volnay and Meursault before arriving in Beaune, world-renowned center of the Burgundy wine trade. Visit the Hospices de Beaune. The Hôtel-Dieu, with its Gothic facades and glazed roofs lined with geometric figures in flamboyant colors, is part of the heritage of the Hospices de Beaune, a charitable institution founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin. In an exceptional state of preservation, this monument is a rare testimony to the civil architecture of the Middle Ages. Its rooms house a vast collection of objects, furniture and tapestries from this period. During the visit, you can admire the polyptych of the Last Judgment by Flemish painter Rogier van der Weyden, a unique and world-famous masterpiece. Afternoon excursion to Brancion and Cormatin. The medieval village of Brancion is the most important stronghold in southern Burgundy, famous for its strategic location and history. First a ducal castellany in the late 13th century, then a royal one, it remains a living example of medieval military architecture. This Burgundian village, where time seems to have stood still, captivates visitors with its charm and calm. The tour continues to the Château de Cormatin, a small jewel of Renaissance architecture, a perfect example of the French art of living in the 17th century. Return to Tournus. Full board on board.

Arrive in Avignon in the morning for a tour of the city and its famous Palais des Papes, papal... see+ residence from 1309 to 1377 during the crisis in Rome. The Palace, which embodied the center of the Catholic world, remains one of the finest examples of late medieval Gothic architecture and a remarkable fortified complex. In the afternoon, departure for the Pont du Gard. Built by the Romans to supply the city of Nîmes with drinking water, the 50 km-long aqueduct spans the river Gard, supported by a three-level bridge. Today, this structure is an exceptional example of Roman engineering. Continuation to the small town of Uzès, a jewel of Provencal architecture and art. Full board on board.
