Authentic: small train, wine tasting and mechanical music... see+ museum in Rüdesheim. Departure by tourist train for a guided tour of the Rüdesheim vineyards. Wine tasting in the historic cellars of the Bassenheimer Hof, a 16th-century stately home. Then on to the Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett museum, housed in a historic 15th-century building. It houses an impressive collection of mechanical musical instruments, one of the largest and most beautiful collections from the 18th to the 20th centuries.

Experience: Rüdesheim vineyard hike. You'll arrive in the center of Rüdesheim, where the gondolas depart for the Niederwald monument. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the town, vineyards and Rhine. Continue with a hike through the vineyards to St Hildegarde Abbey, built between 1900 and 1904. Free visit of the abbey, then walk back to the boat through the vineyards.
In the evening, the famous Drosselgasse awaits you with its many "guinguettes".

At the heart of the picturesque Rhine-Moselle region, surrounded by the four Rhine massifs, the city of Koblenz offers visitors a rich array of cultural monuments and historic buildings. Take the funicular up to the Ehrenbreitstein fortress for a magnificent view of the city, the Rhine and the Moselle. Overlooking the mouth of the Moselle, it dominates the Rhine valley from a position of great strategic importance.

Afternoon, optional Authentic / Experience excursion: guided tour of Mainz and... see+ the Gutenberg Museum. Accompanied by your guides, you'll visit the city of Mainz, located on the banks of the Rhine and facing the mouth of the Main. You'll have the opportunity to enter the thousand-year-old cathedral, whose construction began in 975. You'll then stroll through the streets of the Old Town towards Gutenberg Square. Finally, you'll visit the Gutenberg Printing Museum. Johannes Gensfleisch Gutenberg was born in Mainz between 1394 and 1400, and is recognized throughout Europe as the inventor of movable type printing.

Authentic: visit Baden-Baden. At the foot of the... see+ Black Forest lies the elegant spa town of Baden-Baden. With its Mediterranean charm and exclusive lifestyle, this former summer capital of Europe is sure to win you over. Indeed, in the 19th century, the town was the social gathering place for Europe's wealthy. It was here that Tsarina Catherine II the Great found a Baden bride for her grandson. All the courts of Europe and Russia have stayed here, attracted by the town's location, so much in keeping with the Romantic ideal, surrounded by trees and waterfalls. You'll visit the spa district with the famous Roman-Irish Friedrichsbad (exterior) and the Old Town district.
Experience the Black Forest peak trail. Depart for an unusual hike through the Black Forest. Climb a 40-meter-high tower and a 60-meter-high suspension bridge. You'll be accompanied by a guide who will explain the flora and fauna of the region. From the panoramic tower, you can admire the Swabian Alb, the Kraichgau and the Stuttgart television tower. There are two ways down: on foot or by toboggan (extra charge - payable on site).

Activities

You will begin the tour with a guided tour of the Rüdesheim vineyards by mini train, during which you will discover the famous vineyards that were already cultivated by the Romans. During this tour, you will learn about the history of winegrowing in the... see+ region and enjoy breathtaking views of Rüdesheim and the Rhine. The train will then stop right in front of the historic Bassenheimer Hof cellar, a 16th-century stately home, where you will take part in a wine tasting*. A winemaker from the Störzel family winery will introduce you to three wines, from the driest to the sweetest, while telling you about the history of the winery and winegrowing in the Rüdesheim region and sharing a few local anecdotes. After the tasting, you will visit the Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments, located 100 meters from the winery. The "Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett" is Germany's first museum dedicated to memory musical instruments. From delicate music boxes to titanic concert-piano orchestrions, no fewer than 350 automatic instruments are brought together here to form one of the largest and most beautiful collections from the 18th to the 20th century, displayed over more than 400 m². You can also admire the tools and machines used to manufacture organ cylinders, music cards and rollers, and music box plates. Regardless of their age, visitors to the museum always take great pleasure in discovering this unique music, the techniques of yesteryear, and how these instruments work. After visiting the Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments, you will have free time to return to the boat at your leisure or stroll through the narrow streets of Rüdesheim, walking down the famous Drosselgasse.NOTESPlease wear suitable clothing for the visit to the Bassenheimer Hof.Wear comfortable shoes, as the streets are cobbled and sloping.After the visit, passengers will have free time and will return to the boat by foot at their own pace to enjoy the town.The order of visits may be changed.Times are given as a guide only.*Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health, please drink responsibly.

Your guide will tell you about Beethoven, whose mother was born in Koblenz, and Mozart, who stayed here. Then you will take the funicular... see+ railway to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, where you will have a magnificent view of the city, the Rhine, and the Moselle. Overlooking the mouth of the Moselle, the fortress dominates the Rhine Valley in a location of great strategic importance. The current structure was built under Prussian rule in 1817. Then enjoy some free time at the Koblenz Christmas market. The tradition of Christmas markets has been deeply rooted in Germany for centuries. Depart from the ship with your guides by foot and visit the city of Mainz. The capital of Rhineland-Palatinate, Mainz was founded over 2,000 years ago by the Romans. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the finest architects and sculptors shaped the city's skyline... see+ with its palaces and churches. You can admire the magnificent historic residences, which have been remarkably restored. Located on the side of the boat of the Rhine and facing the mouth of the Main, the city will charm you with its incomparable lifestyle, unique charm, and openness to the world. You will have the opportunity to enter the magnificent cathedral with your guide, whose construction began in 975 and which has left its mark on the city's history. It houses magnificent historical treasures such as funerary monuments from the 13th to the 18th centuries. You will also stroll through the picturesque streets of the old town. Finally, you will visit the Gutenberg Museum, a museum dedicated to printing. Born in Mainz around 1400, Johannes Gensfleisch Gutenberg himself prepared the printing of the "42-line" Bible published in 1455, the oldest printed book in the world. Of the 46 surviving copies, the museum has one, as well as a Mainz Psalter, the first printed work to use three different colored inks. The museum offers an exceptional exhibition on the history of books and writing in Europe and around the world, spread over five floors. Return to the boat on foot. NOTES Wear comfortable walking shoes: the tour is entirely on foot and the streets of the old town are cobbled. The Gutenberg Museum is closed on Sunday mornings and all day Monday.
