Cherished for its rich history, Trier was once an important regional capital of the Holy Roman... see+ Empire. Some still stand today, including the magnificent Romanesque cathedral of Trier. Today, Trier is a picturesque city surrounded by forests and vineyards, also known as the birthplace of Karl Marx and a vibrant university town.

Picturesque half-timbered houses provide the backdrop for around 40 stalls where vendors offer seasonal products such as traditional handicrafts and jewelry. The market square is also home to the region's largest Advent calendar, proudly displayed in the window of a local pharmacy.
