Oreous Pontikonissi
On Sunday morning, we set off for the Artemisia Strait, witness to the famous Battle of Thermopylae... see+ between the Greek and Persian fleets. We then reach the islet of Pontikonissi for a lunch break in a superb cove. This tiny islet, devoid of houses, is frequented by a few fishermen who often come to untangle their nets. Only a lighthouse bears witness to human presence. Lunch is served on board, followed by a swimming session.

Skopelos Agnontas
On Wednesday, we complete our exploration of Skopelos by taking the southern route. As we plan to... see+ spend the night in a cove, under the stars, with dinner on board, we'll stop for lunch at the village of Agnontas. This village is named after the island's Olympic champion, who is still honored, dating back to the Olympic Games of 569 BC! The two tavernas in the harbor, with their waterside tables, offer specialties such as lobster. Weather permitting, we'll spend the night in the magnificent Panormos bay, surrounded by pine trees, or on an islet just before Skyathos, our next destination.

On Thursday, we'll stop off in Skyathos for a few hours to visit the town and do some shopping.... see+ However, we won't be staying overnight, to avoid the noise from the discos in this, the most touristic spot in the Sporades. Instead, we'll head for Mount Pelion, where we'll discover a charming cove before reaching the picturesque port of Agia Kiriaki, home until a few years ago to the last sponge fishermen on the Greek mainland.

On Friday, after a final extended break in a bay, we return to the port of Oreous, the ancient... see+ seafaring town of Hystiaea, which today hosts a friendly Greek tourist trade with simple tavernas offering delicious cuisine. Near the port stands a marble bull from the Hellenistic era.
