Nuuk
Nuuk is Greenland's colorful little capital. With a population of just 20,000, it offers a striking... see+ mix of modern and old buildings. If you prefer the latter, head to the old town on the side of the boat. It is home to Nuuk Cathedral and the statue of Hans Egede, perched on a hill. In the water below, you will see the magnificent statue of the Mother of the Sea. Your expedition ship awaits you at the port. You will be welcomed on board, where you will receive your complimentary expedition jacket, then it will be time to settle into your cabin and enjoy your first meal on the ship.

The voyage to the Arctic Circle will be an opportunity to familiarize yourself with AECO guidelines... see+ and recommendations for operations and landings in the fragile Arctic environment. Be sure to attend these mandatory presentations if you wish to join the planned landings in the Far North. You will also have time to settle in on board, enjoy the ship's state-of-the-art facilities, and attend the first lectures on topics related to Greenland, such as the citizen science projects conducted on board the ship. At some point during the voyage, we will cross the Arctic Circle, marking our entry into the land of the Midnight Sun in the heart of summer.

Disko Bay Ilulissat
Today, we will reach Disko Bay, a refuge for whales and other wildlife. Here, the waters are dotted... see+ with icebergs of all shapes and sizes, all of which come from one place: the Ilulissat glacier fjord. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this spectacular location is regularly ranked among Greenland's must-see sites. Today, you will understand why. Enjoy the scenery as you walk along the wooden path to the breathtaking ice fjord. Marvel at the different shades of white, gray, and blue of the giant icebergs floating peacefully in the deep waters. All photographers, whether amateur or seasoned, will return to the ship with shots that will be the envy of their friends. Back in the pretty town of Ilulissat, visit the ice fjord center to learn more about the ice floes in this fascinating region. Then hike to Sermermiut and soak up the incredible views.

Ilulissat Uummannaq
The Far North of Greenland begins beyond the Nuussuaq Peninsula. Here, life unfolds at the pace of... see+ the Arctic, unhurried and at the mercy of the elements. This wild and beautiful land has attracted humans for over 4,000 years. The first settlers sailed along its coastline and forged a life for themselves in conditions that few could have endured. Today, the region's archaeological sites, such as the famous Qilakitsoq mummies, are quiet reminders of their resilience. Proposed landings may include visits to small, isolated communities such as Uummannaq, dominated by its striking heart-shaped mountain, or Ukkusissat. If time and ice conditions permit, we will explore the Qilakitsoq site, sail through remote fjords, or land our foot to admire Greenland's raw Arctic landscapes, all while adapting to the laws of nature.

Uummannaq At sea - Greenland
We will spend the day on the high seas, crossing Melville Bay. This vast bay has the frozen side of... see+ the boat of Lauge Koch, where the ice cap meets the sea. Locally known as Qimusseriarsuaq, "the great dog sled trail," the bay was renamed by British explorers in honor of Robert Dundas, second Viscount Melville, in the mid-19th century. As we sail well beyond 70 degrees north, relax on the side of the boat and join the expedition team for wildlife viewing on deck. You can also learn more about the Arctic through our lectures on the nature, geology, and mythology of this region.

At sea - Greenland Thulé
Named in the 5th century BC by the Greek explorer Pytheas, "Ultima Thule" referred to a mythical... see+ land located in the Far North. No one knows exactly which territory Pytheas was referring to. However, some say it was northern Greenland. As we explore the region, expect to experience wild beauty at the edge of civilization. Extreme weather conditions throughout the year impose isolation and difficult living conditions on the inhabitants. Even by Arctic standards, Thule is a particularly harsh and isolated part of the world. And yet it was the first region of Greenland to be populated by the predecessors of the Inuit, some 4,500 years ago. Arctic archaeologists still do not understand how they managed to survive and settle in such a hostile environment. The rich animal life, especially birds, is a real source of sustenance, and the hunting culture in this region remains deeply rooted in tradition compared to the rest of Greenland. At one time, the Arctic travel experience of the locals, who served as guides or rescuers, was highly sought after by European and American expedition leaders. It must be said that, due to its geographical location, the region was the natural point of departure for many voyages to the North Pole. We will spend the next few days exploring the region. Keep in mind that our program depends on the changing weather and ice conditions. We plan to visit local communities, disembark from our expedition boat in the heart of breathtaking natural surroundings, navigate through icy channels and, if we are lucky, observe the giants of the Arctic, including walruses, orcas and perhaps even polar bears.

Thulé At sea - Greenland
With our adventures in the North now over, we head back south. This is the perfect opportunity to... see+ take a break on board: chat with your fellow adventurers in the Expedition Lounge & Bar, attend our lectures, and enjoy delicious meals in our restaurants. Haven't tried the hot tubs yet? Now's the time! What could be more magical than bathing in warm water surrounded by icebergs! The expedition team is on deck, watching for wildlife, unless they are in the science center, ready to share more fascinating stories about Greenland, the Arctic, and other topics related to our voyage. Feel free to participate in one of the citizen science projects to contribute to global research while having fun.

At sea - Greenland Disko Bay
The central-western coast of Greenland is a land of contrasts, offering some of the country's... see+ largest fjords, but also the island's second largest city. However, due to the vastness of the territory, this part of the coastline is sparsely populated, and daily life is characterized by isolation and long journeys. On our way south, we will visit communities that are ambassadors of Greenlandic traditions. We will be able to disembark at Qeqertarsuaq, the main municipality on Disko Island, or at Itilleq, a small fishing and hunting village just north of the Arctic Circle. Greenland's second largest city, Sisimiut, awaits us a little further north. Beneath its modern exterior lies a history and heritage dating back more than 4,000 years. A visit to the local museum will introduce you to the ancient Saqqaq culture. And if you need to warm up, you can buy a scarf, hat, or mittens made from qiviut, a type of wool from musk oxen that is very soft and ten times warmer than sheep's wool. Hiking on land, meeting Greenlanders, or observing wildlife... these last few days will bring your Arctic expedition to a beautiful close.
