Reykjavik Denmark Strait
We take the Greenland route via the Denmark Strait, as did the great Viking Erik the Red, the first... see+ European to establish a colony there. Keep your eyes peeled, as whales are not uncommon. During these two days at sea, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the ship's facilities and listen to lectures by the expedition team on protocols for visiting natural habitats and indigenous communities in the Arctic. It's also a good time to book an excursion or learn a few words of Greenlandic! But these two days are above all dedicated to relaxation: savor the dishes in our onboard restaurants, let yourself be surprised by our lectures, or take the time to relax in comfort. You'll feel the excitement building as we approach Greenland, or Kalaallit Nunaat as it is known locally. Your adventure is about to begin!

Denmark Strait South Greenland
These four days are spent in the purest expedition tradition, exploring the labyrinth of fjords,... see+ channels, and islands in this spectacular wilderness. Local weather and ice conditions will determine landing opportunities, but the captain and expedition team will use their expertise to take you to the best sites. Our landings, excursions, and activities will provide opportunities to visit Norse ruins, sail through majestic fjords where sumptuous sculpted icebergs glisten in the sun, and visit picturesque villages. We may disembark in the colorful community of Qaqortoq, on the side of the boat where a magnificent lake is located, visit Erik the Red's farm in Brattahlíð, or simply contemplate the mountainous landscapes of the splendid southern fjords. In southern Greenland, steep mountain ranges overlook green meadows and deep fjords. This spectacular scenery has been shaped by ice and the elements over billions of years. The Norsemen settled here a thousand years ago, but the harsh climate eventually drove them away after 400 years. Today, these vast, wild and almost deserted expanses offer a sense of serenity that is much appreciated in our modern daily lives. So take the time to immerse yourself in nature and let this unique region tell its story.

South Greenland South-west Greenland
The coastline connecting the fjord systems of southern Greenland to Nuuk is extremely wild, and the... see+ few local communities are separated by long distances. Although the climate remains mild for the Arctic, the landscape is harsh, crisscrossed by high mountain ranges half-covered by ice and torn apart by deep turquoise-colored fjords. With few inland passages, travel in the region has always been very difficult. Here, nature reigns supreme, making the country the ideal playground for modern-day adventurers. As we head north, guided by the weather conditions, we will discover the landscapes of "Mellembygden," the northern intermediate settlement. We will also follow in the footsteps of the abandoned mining town of Ivittuut, where cryolite was historically mined, but which is now populated only by peaceful musk oxen. Finally, we will sail into the heart of majestic fjords, carved out over millennia by impressive glaciers cascading down the slopes of the ice cap. In this remote region, wildlife thrives, as you will see thanks to our expedition team. Whether on board or ashore, don't forget your camera and binoculars: seabirds, nesting colonies, and whales feasting are never far away. If luck is on our side, we may see one of the rare herds of musk oxen living on the coast of western Greenland.
Included activities: Disembarkation at Ivittuut, Kvanefjord / Nigerlikasik - Exploration day in Kvanefjord, see+

South-west Greenland Nuuk
Explore the incredible fjord system of Nuup Kangerlua, which forms a sprawling network of... see+ surprisingly parallel waterways around the capital. It is dominated by the Kangiussap Nunaa peninsula and the ice cap, particularly in Nuuk's famous Isfjord. These lands were once home to ancient Western Norse communities, making it the northernmost region they managed to colonize in the Middle Ages. It was probably in Nuup Kangerlua that the descendants of the Vikings first encountered the Thule people. The fjords are dotted with the remains of ancient Norse settlements and small Inuit communities: some are abandoned, such as the picturesque Qornoq, while others are thriving, such as Kapisillit with its 88 inhabitants. The relative proximity to Nuuk tends to obscure the fact that until very recently, the communities living on the shores of Nuup Kangerlua were as isolated as other Greenlandic villages. Weather and ice conditions permitting, we will spend the next two days exploring the fjord system and contemplating the changing mountainous landscapes. We will also attempt to reach the frozen upper reaches of Nuup Kangerlua and visit one of the Inuit villages, while setting aside time for hikes or expedition boat trips and wildlife viewing.

Nuuk
Our journey ends in Nuuk. It's time to say goodbye to the ship, the crew, and the expedition team.... see+ With its 20,000 inhabitants, Greenland's bustling capital feels like a small metropolis compared to the other towns you've visited over the past few weeks. Enjoy a visit to the National Museum to discover what daily life was like 500 years ago and see the incredibly well-preserved mummies of Qilakitsoq. Otherwise, there is no shortage of shops, on a Greenlandic scale of course, as well as friendly cafés and restaurants to linger in. If you have time before your return flight, explore this fascinating window into modern Greenland. From there, you'll fly to Reykjavík with your mast top full of memories, each one more fantastic than the last.
