Your journey begins in Longyearbyen, the main town of the Svalbard archipelago and the true gateway... see+ to the High Arctic. Nestled amid spectacular landscapes of mountains, glaciers, and tundra, this former mining town is now the starting point for many polar expeditions. You’ll have some free time to explore Longyearbyen at your own pace before boarding, scheduled for around 5 p.m. After you’ve settled into your cabin and received safety instructions, the ship will cast off and set sail for the vast wilderness of Spitsbergen, where an extraordinary adventure in the heart of the Arctic begins.

Longyearbyen Hornsund
We set course for the west coast of Spitsbergen and the spectacular Hornsund, one of the... see+ archipelago’s most beautiful fjords. Dominated by the highest peaks in western Spitsbergen, this magnificent landscape combines majestic glaciers, rugged mountains, and vast glacial valleys, offering a quintessentially Arctic setting. This region is renowned for its rich wildlife. As we sail, keep your eyes peeled: whales, seals, seabirds, and—with a little luck—polar bears can be spotted in their natural habitat. Hornsund also boasts a fascinating history linked to early explorers, whalers, and scientific expeditions that helped expand our understanding of these polar lands.
From cruising at the foot of glaciers to wildlife viewing and exploring the wild landscapes of the High Arctic, these two days offer an exceptional immersion into the heart of Spitsbergen.

This day is dedicated to cruising through the heart of the Arctic waters. From the ship’s outdoor... see+ decks, take in the vastness of the polar landscapes and keep an eye out for marine wildlife. These waters are regularly visited by several species of cetaceans. With a little luck, you may spot humpback whales, minke whales, or even bowhead whales coming to feed in these nutrient-rich seas. Seabirds also often accompany the ship, offering wonderful opportunities for observation. A day dedicated to contemplation and wildlife discovery, in the heart of the vast Arctic.

This ever-shifting world of ice offers spectacular landscapes where ice floes, channels, and drifting icebergs stretch as far as the eye can see. These two days are dedicated to observing the Arctic’s iconic wildlife. From the ship’s decks, you’ll set out in search of polar bears, seals, and other species that inhabit the sea ice or its surroundings. Depending on conditions, the voyage will also take you close-hauled to impressive tabular icebergs—true cathedrals of ice sculpted by the elements.
