Kirkenes Vardo Batsfjord Berlevag
Your classic journey from North to South begins in the town of Kirkenes in the Far North (a point... see+ further east than Istanbul). Kirkenes is only a few kilometres from the border. Explore the border by bus (all year round). You can also join an excursion to catch and taste your king crabs. Snowshoeing, dog-sledding and snowmobiling are just some of the winter activities available in the region. You'll also have the chance to visit an Arctic ice dome. Are you a history buff? There are several small museums in Kirkenes that tell the story of the region's long history. Leaving Kirkenes, we head north to Vardø in the afternoon. Weather permitting, the more courageous can take a dip in the icy Arctic Ocean (of course this is an optional experience!). We then head west along the Varanger peninsula to Båtsfjord and Berlevåg, home to Norway's most famous male fishermen's choir.

Tromso Finnsnes Harstad Risoyhamn Sortland Stokmarknes Svolvaer Stamsund
We arrive in Harstad in the morning and you can take part in one of our traditional excursions, to... see+ the Vesterålen Islands. On this tour, discover the history, beautiful scenery and cultural sites before returning to the ship in Sortland. Passengers who choose to stay on the ship will cross the Risøyrenna, a shallow canal built for Hurtigruten in the 1920s. The stunning scenery of the famous Lofoten and Vesterålen islands will leave you breathless. Lofoten is renowned for its immense beauty, rugged mountains, wilderness and picturesque fishing villages. Our day trip to the region is a must for many travellers. After a short stop in the hamlet of Risøyhamn, we continue on to Stokmarknes, where Hurtigruten was born over 125 years ago**. Here you can visit the Hurtigruten Museum. As we continue south, you might think we're heading straight for the rock face, but appearances are deceiving. In fact, we'll be taking a passage through the narrow Raftsund, winding our way through peaks 1,000 metres above sea level. Then we arrive in the marvellous Trollfjord. Conditions permitting, we'll skirt sheer cliffs that you can almost touch. An unforgettable experience! We then reach Svolvær, where you can choose from a number of optional excursions. Stamsund Bodo Ornes Nesna Sandnessjoen Bronnoysund Rorvik
Crossing the Arctic Circle is an important ‘rite of passage’. We celebrate this moment on deck... see+ in the purest Arctic tradition, with a spoonful of cod liver oil. As you sail along the coast of Helgeland, you'll spot a strange mountain, Torghatten (258 m above sea level), with a distinctive hole in its centre. The hole is 160 m long, 35 m high and 20 m wide, and was formed during the Ice Age. Take a hike up the mountain. The Seven Sisters mountain range is another must-see. It's easy to see how it could have influenced the myths of yesteryear. Legend has it that seven magnificent troll sisters were surprised by sunrise and turned to stone, creating these seven superb peaks. We then stop briefly at the charming trading port of Nesna before heading to Sandnessjøen. Here, you can take part in an optional excursion to the Vega Islands, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. UNESCO has taken an interest in the archipelago and its unique, centuries-old link with the eider ducks. Discover how the locals make a living from making down duvets. In Brønnøysund, you can take an excursion to learn about Norway's aquaculture centre and taste fresh salmon from May to September. Don't forget to visit... see+ the majestic Nidaros Cathedral, built over the tomb of King Olaf II who reigned from 1015 to 1028. As you drive along the coast, you'll notice the importance of fish in the villages along the Norwegian coast. Kristiansund is known as Norway's ‘dried cod capital’ due to its long tradition of exporting salted fish. You can take an excursion along the Atlantic Route, one of Norway's national tourist routes. The 8km stretch crosses eight bridges and pastoral landscapes surrounded by the sea. The Bergtatt marble mine is another exciting excursion, taking you deep into the mountains to a floodlit underground lake before enjoying a meal in the mine's huge hall. The North Cape plateau stretches 307 meters above the Arctic Ocean. Welcome to Europe's northernmost point. Unlike previous passengers who had to climb to the top of the cliff, a bus from Honningsvåg will take you to your destination. You'll have plenty of... see+ time to stroll around the plateau and take photos in front of the monumental globe.
Enjoy a generous breakfast buffet in the North Cape Hall as you gaze out over the Barents Sea, before experiencing the four seasons of the North Cape through a panoramic film. In the North Cape Hall, inside the cliff, you can buy handcrafted gifts for your loved ones in the gift store and visit the chapel and small museum.
Departing from Honningsvåg, we take an underwater tunnel that links the town to the mainland. The bus then takes us south along the majestic Porsangerfjord, before heading back along the coast to Hammerfest, one of the world's most northerly towns.

We then head for the... see+ Meridian Column, the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Hammerfest. This monument marks the northernmost measuring point of the Struve Geodetic Arc, a chain of triangulation markers used to establish the exact shape and size of the Earth.
The last stop on our tour is Mount Salen. On the way to the top of the mountain, your erudite guide will tell you all about Hammerfest's unique history. From the summit, you'll enjoy a sumptuous panorama of the city below.

Our tour begins with a brief exploration of the streets of Harstad. This is the third largest community in Northern Norway. Its history is rooted in herring fishing, the army and, more recently, oil rigs.
On a clear day, you should be able to see the... see+ Trondenes peninsula to the north of the town. You'll visit a 13th-century medieval stone church, the most northerly of its kind in the world. We'll stop off at the Trondenes Historical Center, which displays artifacts found in the region from different eras, from the early Stone Age through the Middle Ages to the Viking Age and the modern era. The museum also boasts a reconstructed farmhouse dating from around 1200, complete with granary, forge and moated church.
Departing Trondenes, we'll take the bus for a scenic drive across the island of Hinnøya to board our ferry at Gullesfjord. On board, enjoy freshly baked pancakes, waffles and lefse and a hot drink as you admire the scenery. The tour continues by bus along the Sigerfjord to Sortland, where your ship awaits.
