Oslo
Your expedition begins in Oslo, the Norwegian capital perched on the edge of the fjord. If you have... see+ the time, why not explore the city center at your leisure?

With a rich history and a trendy arts scene, Oslo is a fascinating city. You'll find museums, galleries, and remarkable architecture, including the majestic Opera House and the new Munch Museum.

Take a stroll through the Ekebergparken sculpture park, visit the Akershus Fortress, or relax in a floating sauna. Explore the modern Sørenga district and enjoy its urban seaside life, or discover the new Nordic cuisine before spending the night at a hotel near Oslo Airport.

Oslo Longyearbyen
After a morning flight from Oslo, your adventure will begin with two nights in the world’s... see+ northernmost city. A colorful border settlement with more snowmobiles than inhabitants, Longyearbyen is a unique place at the edge of the wild Arctic nature.

You will spend the next two and a half days exploring Longyearbyen and its surroundings. The town is perfect for walking tours: stroll along the main street, where you might spot a wandering reindeer from Spitsbergen. But don't worry, although wild, this animal is very curious and not afraid of humans.

Longyearbyen
To give you a better insight into the place, local guides will accompany you on an electric bike... see+ tour to introduce the historical context of the town on top of the world.

You will leave the city on a dirt path leading to Hotellneset, where you will discover a lake and the remnants of the region's mining past. The very first hotel on Spitsbergen was built by Richard With, the founder of Hurtigruten, even before the town we see today was established.

We will then return to Longyearbyen via the "Burma Road," an old major route used to transport coal from the port, offering stunning views. Along the way, we will admire an old funicular, the Spitsbergen Church, and the ruins of the first town of Longyearbyen, bombed during World War II.

Next, we will continue with the steep cliffs of the Plateau Mountain, passing by the cemetery and the iconic Huset, a building that has housed a cinema, a bar, a school, and a church. Then, we will head toward Coal Miners' Cabins, originally the miners' residence, where we will enjoy a casual lunch before the end of our tour and return to the hotel.

Ny Alesund
Today, you will discover the serenity of Ny-Ålesund and the surrounding fjords, including... see+ Krossfjord and Kongsfjord. Enjoy a true day of relaxation, as the proximity of the Norwegian Mapping Authority's geodetic station requires us to turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Ny-Ålesund, one of the northernmost settlements in the world and a former mining town, was the starting point for Roald Amundsen's northern expeditions aboard his airship "Norge." Today, it has become an international center for scientific and climate research but still retains traces of its past.

Exploring the fjords around Ny-Ålesund will immerse you in stunning icy landscapes. The adventure awaits as we take every opportunity to launch our small expedition boats, disembark for a hike, or sail along the majestic glaciers.

Ny Alesund North West National Park
During the next three days, you will explore the natural beauty and raw tundra of the Northwest... see+ Svalbard National Park. In this wilderness, scattered with steep mountains, austere glaciers, and magnificent islands, we will search for Arctic wildlife: whales, seals, walruses, and reindeer. If luck is on our side, we might even spot the elusive polar bear from the ship's observation deck. In the stunning Kongsfjord region, you might witness the impressive glaciers shedding chunks of ice into the sea.

North West National Park Sailing to the ice floe
If the ice conditions allow, we will sail north and cross the 80th parallel to explore the ice edge... see+ and its ever-changing landscape. The transition zone between the ice cap and the sea is a magical and fleeting place, with waters filled with sea ice and drifting icebergs. From our ship, you might spot seals and walruses basking on the glistening ice. If conditions permit, we will launch our expedition boats for an unforgettable experience close to the floating ice.

The ice edge is not a fixed boundary; it shifts with the seasons and weather, so this visit cannot be guaranteed despite our efforts. In summer (May to August), it retreats further toward the pole, possibly beyond our reach. In that case, we will explore the deep fjords, mighty glaciers, and enchanting landscapes of the Svalbard coast, which are equally breathtaking. Between late July and early August, wildflowers bloom, covering the landscape in a burst of color.

Sailing to the ice floe Spitsbergen
At this stage of your journey, anything is possible. The pure adventure continues. If ice... see+ conditions allow, we will venture into the frozen seascapes of the eastern coast of Spitsbergen.

While elusive, there is a high chance of spotting polar bears over the next two days. We will also be on the lookout for walruses and colonies of Brünnich's guillemots and other seabirds in the Hinlopen Strait. We may then head south towards Freeman Strait and Kapp Lee or explore Edgeøya or Barentsøya aboard our expedition boats.

Spitsbergen Svalbard
In true expedition style, our final itinerary will depend on the conditions of the day. Awaken the... see+ explorer within you during hikes, kayaking excursions, and thrilling landings.

If ice blocks our passage through the Hinlopen Strait, you’ll experience an equally exciting adventure among the wonders of western Svalbard. We will follow a flexible route through deep fjords and glaciers spilling into the sea, seeking the remarkable Arctic wildlife.

Hornsund Bellsund
We will then head towards Bellsund with its snow-capped peaks and cliffs home to large colonies of... see+ alcids, guillemots, and northern fulmars, while Arctic foxes and Svalbard reindeer roam below. Look out for remnants of early mining communities and learn about Wanny Woldstad, the first female trapper.

Our activities will depend on the weather conditions in Hornsund and Bellsund. Your expedition team will determine the best exploration opportunities for the day.
