From Longyearbyen to the wild fjords: summer exploration of Spitsbergen on board a magnificent sailing boat, between flowering tundra and eternal ice
By Felix KUNKLER your cruise expert Fancy an Arctic summer in the heart of Spitsbergen, surrounded by ancient glaciers, whales, bears, and seabirds? This expedition takes you to the north of the archipelago for total immersion in polar nature, living to the rhythm of the midnight sun.
A spectacular setting, non-stop Departing from Longyearbyen, you will sail through Isfjorden and then on to Raudfjord, Monaco Glacier and Hinlopen Strait. Each site boasts inhabited cliffs, spectacular glaciers and extraordinary panoramas — sometimes as far north as the 80th parallel.
Wildlife in the great outdoors Polar bears, walruses, ringed and bearded seals, beluga whales and reindeer: encounters with Arctic life are a constant feature of the journey. On land, Arctic foxes mingle with vast populations of seabirds, including little auks, guillemots and fulmars
Human history and ruins Step ashore at Trygghamna to discover 17th-century whaling stations, the remains of Pomor hunters, and historic Ny-Ålesund, a site of scientific pioneers at the North Pole.
