Longyearbyen Isfjorden
Arrival in Longyearbyen, the main town of the Svalbard archipelago and the true gateway to the... see+ polar world. Nestled at the head of the Isfjord, this small Arctic town, surrounded by rugged mountains, offers a unique atmosphere that blends mining heritage, polar life, and scientific exploration. Free time to explore the town, its colorful houses, specialty shops, and its distinctive atmosphere in the heart of the Far North.

Boarding is scheduled for around 5:00 p.m. before the start of your expedition in the Arctic waters of Svalbard. The voyage begins in Isfjorden, one of the archipelago’s largest fjords, lined with spectacular mountain scenery and former Russian mining settlements that bear witness to the region’s industrial past.

Isfjorden Krossfjord Ny Alesund
The day begins with a visit to Krossfjord, the spectacular Cross Bay, dominated by an impressive... see+ glacier front nearly 7 kilometers long. This wilderness is home to large colonies of seabirds as well as numerous reminders of the history of Arctic expeditions. The voyage then continues along the coast of Spitsbergen to Ny-Ålesund, one of the northernmost settlements in the world. A former mining town that has become an international center for scientific research, Ny-Ålesund also served as the point of departure for several historic expeditions to the North Pole. Surrounded by mountains, glaciers, and Arctic tundra, this historic site offers a unique setting for an immersive experience in the heart of the Far North.

Ny Alesund Magdalenafjord Smeerenburgfjorden
The day is devoted to exploring the magnificent Magdalenefjorden, better known as the Bay of... see+ Madeleine. Nestled within a spectacular setting of alpine peaks, majestic glaciers, and wild shores, this bay is among the most beautiful landscapes in Spitsbergen. The voyage continues to the historic site of Smeerenburg, a former whaling station founded in the 17th century by the Dutch. Today, this region is best known for its rich Arctic wildlife: walruses are frequently spotted on the beaches, while seals and seabirds inhabit the surrounding waters and cliffs. In this wild and unspoiled setting, the ever-present ice and the beauty of the landscapes offer an unforgettable immersion in the heart of the Far North.

Smeerenburgfjorden Monacobreen
The journey continues toward the Albert I of Monaco Land, a region named in honor of Prince Albert... see+ I’s Arctic expeditions. At the head of Liefdefjord stands the spectacular Monacobreen, or Monaco Glacier, whose impressive ice front flows into the waters of the fjord. Surrounded by alpine landscapes and islets frequented by numerous bird species, this site is one of Spitsbergen’s most iconic. Further north, the expedition can approach Moffen, a small island located beyond the 80° north parallel, famous for its colony of walruses that come to rest on its beaches. Depending on ice conditions, the voyage may also take you to the edges of the pack ice, a fascinating world inhabited by seals, seabirds, and sometimes the iconic polar bear.

Monacobreen Alkefjellet
The day takes us into the heart of the spectacular Hinlopen Strait, which separates Spitsbergen... see+ from the Northeast Land. One of the highlights of the voyage is the discovery of Alkefjellet, an impressive basalt cliff that is home to one of the archipelago’s largest seabird colonies. Hundreds of thousands of Brünnich’s guillemots and black-legged kittiwakes nest there amid a magnificent landscape of basalt columns and sheer cliffs. The voyage continues along the immense ice caps and the spectacular ice shelf of Northeast Land, one of the largest in the Northern Hemisphere. A stopover in Murchisonfjorden offers the chance to explore a site steeped in history, marked by the presence of a former research station and frequented by walruses, seabirds, and, with a little luck, polar bears.
