Morning sailing on the Danube-Black Sea Canal. The completion of the Danube-Black Sea Canal is a... see+ colossal work in the history of Communism in Romania and Eastern Europe. Late morning arrival in Constanta. Optional authentic excursion/experience: guided tour of Constanta and local wine tasting. This Romanian city is the best known on the Black Sea coast. Once an important Greek trading post, it has preserved a number of interesting vestiges from its heyday. Not least the remarkable 3rd-century Roman mosaic. The streets of the old town also hold a few surprises, as far as the seafront and the casino, which raises its rococo façade against the wind. Then on to Murfatlar. The sunny Dobrogean plateau on the shores of the Black Sea is the country's most promising region. The Murfatlar vineyards have made a name for themselves, winning numerous international awards for their Chardonnay. Wine tasting in a local cellar. Night sail to Cernavoda.

Its monumental avenues are punctuated by beautiful gardens, parks and surprising alleyways. Communism may have changed the face of the city, as evidenced by the gigantic Palace of Parliament, but the “Little Paris of the Balkans” has retained the joie de vivre of a mixed-race city with a 19th-century feel. Return to Roussé.

Optional authentic excursion day / experience: Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanassi. Lunch in a restaurant.... see+ In an exceptional setting, Veliko Tarnovo displays its white, flower-filled houses in a labyrinthine tangle. Former capital of the Bulgarian tsars, its fortress overlooks the town and remains the jewel of the region. Then on to Arbanassi, a village of character much loved by Bulgarians. This former summer residence of the Tsars is renowned for its many frescoed churches. Return on board to Roussé.

A day of navigation: passing through the Iron Gates, between the Carpathians and the Balkans. The... see+ most spectacular part of this defile was nicknamed "The Boilers" by navigators because the water, squeezed between the steep mountain walls, once seemed to bubble. In turn, you'll see the "Tabula Traiana", a huge marble slab reminiscent of the "imperial road", an elegant viaduct overlooking the mouth of the river and the "portrait" of Decébal, carved in stone.

- Authentic: guided tour of Belgrade. The Serbian capital has forged its... see+ identity from the confluence of Ottoman, Austrian and Slavic cultures. Built on a series of hills backed by the Sava River, Belgrade offers a variety of urban landscapes to discover. You'll see streets lined with 19th-century mansions, Art Nouveau buildings and the Kalemegdan Park.
- Experience Belgrade by bike. The "White City" boasts plenty of space, vast riverbanks and green spaces. At the crossroads of Oriental, Slavic and Austrian influences, the Serbian capital has carved out its own identity, winning over many a traveler. Afternoon optional authentic excursion/experience: Novi Sad and the Krusedol monastery. Drive to the Krusedol Monastery. Nestled in the heart of the Serbian countryside, in the valleys of the Fruska Gora "Holy Mountain" National Park, the monastery is remarkable for its fusion of Byzantine and Baroque styles. Even today, it is a popular place for meditation. Continuation to Novi Sad. Considered by Serbs to be one of the most beautiful cities in the country, it boasts a vibrant pedestrianized historic heart. The Austro-Hungarian architecture of the main square rivals the beauty of 19th-century mansions. A green city, Novi Sad boasts pretty flowerbeds and tree-lined squares.
Return to Novi Sad. Continuation to Osijek.

- Authentic: guided tour of Osijek. The capital of Slavonia, a Croatian... see+ province, is famous for its beauty and symbolic sites. In addition to the red-brick Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, which dominates the city, Osijek boasts impressive Baroque architecture. The citadel on the banks of the Drava River, not far from the confluence with the Danube, demonstrates the strategic importance of the area.
- Experience: discover Osijek by bike. Situated on the Drava, a tributary of the Danube, Osijek is ideal for two-wheeled tours. In the pedestrian district, you'll see an exceptional group of 18th-century urban fortifications, with narrow streets lined with Baroque and Art Nouveau palaces. Your tour then takes you to the parks along the Drava River.
