South Georgia Island
With its abundant wildlife, South Georgia has truly earned its nickname as the “Serengeti of the... see+ Southern Ocean.” Its unique location, set apart from the frozen sea, makes it an ideal refuge for many penguins, seals, and seabirds that come here to breed. Indeed, it is an important bird conservation area, home to albatrosses, petrels, puffins, skuas, and terns.
During our three days in this region, we will go ashore as often as possible to experience nature and wildlife up close. We will also try to visit Grytviken, the final resting place of Sir Ernest Shackleton, the great Antarctic explorer. As always, our expedition sailing itineraries will adapt to the natural environment and daily conditions to offer you the best possible experience.
Our sailing itineraries are always flexible, but they are even more so during breeding seasons, so as not to disturb the wildlife. Whenever possible, we’ll go ashore to get closer to the wildlife. However, if our presence risks disturbing the animals, we’ll head to another location. These decisions are made by your expedition team, which has many years of field experience. Sometimes we go ashore, sometimes we sail… Adventure is also about knowing how to adapt to the surrounding conditions!

The continent is a place of global cooperation, where only scientific and nature conservation activities are permitted. It is protected by the Antarctic Treaty to ensure the prevention of military conflicts and the protection of its unique environment.
It is also a center for scientific research on climate change and ecosystems, a unique testament to nature’s resilience. Feel free to participate in our citizen science programs to help collect data for global research projects.

We will explore various landing sites on and around the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands. No two days will be alike.
If possible, we will sail into a flooded volcanic caldera or land in frozen bays dotted with the remains of whaling ships. You may have the opportunity to go kayaking among icebergs and seals or snowshoeing to stunning viewpoints.
In the sky, birdwatchers will enjoy the ballet of great skuas, petrels, and terns. You’ll learn more about this precious habitat and how to protect it for future generations during onboard lectures.

Your five unforgettable days in Antarctica are touching the seabed as our ship heads through the... see+ Drake Passage for our final adventure. The constant shift between violent winds and currents and calm, silent waters has earned it two contrasting nicknames: “Drake’s Shake” and “Drake’s Lake.” But rest assured, even if the sea is rough, your ship is perfectly equipped to navigate the waters of the Southern Ocean. During our crossing, the expedition team will reflect on our experiences, extending your journey to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and Antarctica just a little longer.
