Saint Ambroggio is quite simply a magnificent beach located in the village of Lumio, in Corsica. With its fine white sand, Sant Ambroggio beach plunges into an exotic world, dotted with rocks that add a wild and authentic feel.
Ideal for diving and for a short trip in a kayak, the beach also proves to be an excellent point of departure for yachtsmen. The seafront at Lumio includes a marina that will allow sailing enthusiasts to set a course for the beautiful, calm beaches that haul in on the coastline of the Balagne region. After a short stop not far from the small coves located a few meters from the beach of Sant Ambroggio, boaters are invited to set course for some of the remarkable beaches during your yacht charter in Corsica, such as Arinella beach, a small bay perfectly suited for children.
Romantics will certainly prefer to enjoy the small sandy beach of Ostriconi, or the secluded beach of Lozari and its crystal clear waters. On the other hand, if you enjoy mingling with the crowds, drop anchor not far from the beach on Île Rousse, where a long fine sandy beach awaits you!
Discover the other beaches of Lumio
In addition to Arinella beach, other sandy stretches and pretty coves can be found along the Lumio coastline. Hauled in by your catamaran, you can quietly reach the cove of Punta di Spanu, home to four small sandy beaches that will remind you of the sandy coastline of Brittany. This cove also benefits from being an excellent diving spot for those who wish to observe the Mediterranean seabed during their cruise.
When you drop anchor on Algajo beach, you can enjoy a quick swim while taking in the view of the island of Spano. This beach is mainly frequented by the inhabitants of Lumio and reveals a river of fine sand caressed by a translucent sea. Sainte Restitude beach, located near Arinella beach, is also an excellent diving spot. Very little frequented, even in high season, it covers an area of 150 meters.
A brief historical aside
Sant'Ambroggio beach is also an excellent point from which to stroll through the commune of Lumio, which is distinguished by its rich historical heritage. Churches, towers and archaeological sites will unfold before your eyes. As you wander through the narrow medieval streets, you will come across a number of ancient religious buildings such as the chapel of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, a 12th-century Romanesque church with a façade featuring two lion's mast tops. The baroque church of Santa Maria and the 15th-century church of the Annunziata enhance the picturesque character of the village.
The towers also invite you to take a little trip back in time, like the ruins of the Caldanu tower, dominating the west of the village, or the Lomellini tower, established at the foot of Mount Bracajo since 1575. If you want to explore its archaeological sites, head to the south of Lumio, where the Salducci site is located. The latter is home to remains dating from the Neolithic period.
