Yacht charter

Last updated on 8 April 2025

A small, quiet village in the south-east of England, between Reading and Oxford, Benson retains an authentic charm that appeals to visitors. Its location, at the foot of the Chiltern Hills and close-hauled to the River Thames, gives it a pleasant backdrop. Visit the English countryside at a leisurely pace, as the mood takes you.

A pleasant cruise on the Thames

To take full advantage of the fabulous Thames scenery, plan a yacht charter from Benson. A cruise on the Thames, with stops at Berkshire, Reading, Henley and Windsor, will allow you to experience the real England. You can also travel up to the university city of Oxford for a pleasant cultural interlude.

A stop in Berkshire will give you the opportunity to admire the gigantic medieval Windsor Castle and its fortress. You should also know that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, was born in this town. The Kennet River, close-hauled to Reading, is well stocked with fish and seems perfect for fishing.

Do you like water sports? You will be spoiled for choice here. Short trips in a kayak will give you a better appreciation of the fauna in the region. In addition, the town of Henley organizes regattas and canoe races every summer.

Finally, the stop in the village of Windsor will be devoted to immersion in nature. The trails in the forested area close-hauled to the village resemble a true paradise for hiking enthusiasts. Between the Token Creek Conservancy and the Yahara River, the setting is idyllic! You will also have the chance to observe and immortalize the birds colonizing this natural site.

A pleasant stroll through the village of Benson

The history of Benson will reveal itself to you during your tour of the village. Its main attractions include the parish church of St. Helen, its airbase and the Ewelme nature reserve.

The church of St. Helen dates from the 12th century and has a unique clock that made the village famous during the Second World War. The village also had a castle, Wallingford Castle, which belonged to William the Conqueror in 1066. Today, only the remains of this castle can be seen.
