The Moody shipyard was established in 1830, when a certain John Moody became the owner of a plot of land on the River Hamble. It was in fact at the port of Sandwich, in England, that a small shipyard was established and gave birth to small fishing boats during the 19th century. It was not until the beginning of the 20th century that the small shipyard became a major builder of pleasure boats available for charter. It was thanks to the intervention of Alexander Herbert, grandson of John Moody, that the shipyard welcomed its first Moody and its very first luxury yacht.The very first Moody was launched in 1934 and enabled the company to hoist itself onto the highest steps of fame.
