The largest model from the Finnish manufacturer is now 115 feet long!Founded in 1966, the Oy Nautor AB shipyard aims for excellence in producing high-quality sailing boats. Advanced laminating technology and traditional wood have been combined to create boats specially designed for lovers of pleasure boating. Based in Jakobstad, the Finnish shipyard is collaborating with the naval architecture company Sparkman & Stephens to produce its very first fiberglass-wooden sailboat, the Sawn 36. In addition to fiberglass, other innovations were introduced in the Sawn 36, such as the rudder and the hull, both of which are positioned at the rear. The ship is as safe as wooden boats and surpasses them in terms of comfort. The success of the Sawn 36 convinced the shipyard to produce other yachts, such as the Sawn 43, which won the Admiral's Cup in 1969.Despite a fire destroying its assembly plant in 1969, Oy Nautor AB continues to surprise its clientele by producing new boats that are just as elegant and high-performance. Under the direction of Pekka Koskenkylä, the shipyard presents the Swan 55 and the Sawn 65 to the public. Two little marvels that allow enthusiasts to sample the pleasures of pleasure boating and regattas.Towards the end of the 1970s, with the collaboration of its new designer Ron Holland, Nautor built 5 new models including the well-known Sawn 37 and the famous Sawn 39 and Swan 42. Almost 300 units were produced. The year 1980 was marked by the appointment of Germán Frers as designer. He made the new Oy Nautor AB yachts a benchmark in terms of comfort and performance. The very first sailboat designed by Frers, the Sawn 51, was launched in 1981
