Authentic: Brussels, the must-sees. You will then head to the historic center of Brussels, home to an exceptional architectural heritage that bears witness to the city’s great historical moments. The Grand Place, surrounded by guild houses, the Town Hall, and the King's House, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The beautifully decorated façades of the buildings offer a harmonious blend of Gothic, Classical, and Baroque styles. You will also admire the Royal Palace of Brussels, the working palace of the King, the Saint-Hubert Gallery, the Sablon district, and the famous Manneken Pis. Enjoy some free time to taste local specialties (chocolate, waffles, fries…)—a variety of flavors to delight your taste buds.

Experience: Brussels, the capital of comics. Did you know? Belgium has the highest number of comic book authors per square kilometer in the world. Brussels pays tribute to these icons with murals featuring beloved comic book characters and creators. Discover street art dedicated to Tintin, Gaston Lagaffe, Lucky Luke, Asterix, Corto Maltese, and many more. Spot additional references such as street name plaques and statues honoring the "ninth art." By the end of the tour, you’ll know everything about the history of comics. You will also visit the Belgian Comic Strip Center, a magical place where comics reign supreme. Located in the heart of Brussels, this must-see museum has been celebrating the ninth art for over 30 years.

Return on board. Afternoon navigation towards Antwerp. You will travel along the Brussels-Scheldt canal, also known as the Willebroek canal, one of the oldest navigable canals in Belgium and even in Europe. You will then reach the Scheldt River, which flows through three countries—France, Belgium, and the Netherlands—before emptying into the North Sea. Evening arrival in Antwerp. Overnight stop.

Optional excursions:

Authentic: Antwerp, Het Steen Castle, and the historic heart. Overlooking... see+ the Scheldt, the city's oldest building, the magnificent medieval Het Steen Castle, was built between 1200 and 1225 to defend and protect the city from invaders. Now transformed into the "The Antwerp Story" museum, it offers a fascinating and original way to explore the city's history through its various rooms. As you journey through the centuries, you will discover anecdotes, hidden secrets, and iconic buildings that make up Antwerp’s heritage. The panoramic terrace provides a breathtaking view of the Scheldt, the city, and the port—the second-largest port in Europe. After this immersive introduction, the tour continues to the historic center and the Grand Place. The UNESCO-listed Renaissance-style Town Hall is undoubtedly the most remarkable building. The Grand Place is lined with numerous richly decorated guild houses adorned with statues. At its center stands the famous Brabo Fountain, and just a few steps away is the Cathedral of Our Lady of Antwerp, a Gothic architectural masterpiece, with its north tower and 123-meter-high spire that has dominated the skyline for over five centuries.

Experience: Antwerp, the Red Star Line Museum, and the Nottebohm Room. This morning, we will begin our exploration of Antwerp at the Grand Place, where elegant façades of historic residences line the square. We will pause in front of the Town Hall (exterior view), a building inspired by Italian Renaissance architecture. Then, we will visit the Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library, one of the most beautiful and prestigious libraries in Belgium. Here, you will discover the Nottebohm Room, one of Antwerp’s best-kept secrets. Located in the library’s oldest wing, it was designed in 1936 as a ceremonial hall. The tour will then continue with a visit to the Red Star Line Museum, which chronicles the great wave of emigration to the United States between 1850 and 1930.

We will return to the ship for lunch and continue our navigation towards Ghent. As we sail along the Scheldt, we will pass through vast salt marshes, followed by the great plain leading to the Terneuzen lock and the Ghent-Terneuzen canal. Arrival in Ghent in the evening.
